The absolute best way to get it will be to order the "Digital + Physical" option on the day of release here. You'll be able to download and play immediately and the hard copy will ship out as soon as possible so that you have a permanent physical copy as well. If speed is the primary concern, no one anywhere will have WITP AE faster than we will.

Regards,

- Erik

Hmmmm!!! Official Matrix staff commenting on AE delivery. We must be getting closer that I thought.

Do you think that AE actually exists? Maybe this is some kind of scam.

I don't interpret it that way. I think Erik was just basically outlining what are the basic Matrix operating methods for ALL games not just AE. Every game I have ever purchased from Matrix has had the option of digital only, digital with extended license, physical only, or combined digital and physical. I have always chosen the final method so I have a hard copy around in case my hard drive crashes or some other computer disaster befalls me

Unfortunately, Digital Download is practically impossible for those of us with pedal-up (dialup) connections...

I hate to say it Brad, but I'm glad me and some other folks will benefit from the fact that not all forumites start downloading right away and thus we'll have a better bandwidth.

Btw, I'm pretty sure the first download is already finished before we see the announcement. Unfortunately it's very unlikely my download.

Use a download manager (Star Downloader, GetRight, etc.) then just let your computer download it over night. Even if your connect breaks the download manager can pickup right where it left off or if it takes a couple of nights to download.

Rent a computer at Kinko's, download it and burn to a CD? I think they charge $0.20 a minute.

Well I do have a CHS PBEM to finish, so I'll probably be happy with waiting for the disk to arrive in the mail. We shall see...

The rest of us may be brought down to your level if the Matrix server goes down because of the demand.

If available Mistmatz has the right choice. Digital download to get the game the first day with a hardcopy and manual in the mail.

Why? Just burn a copy of the DL to CD and write the serial number on the disc. The end.

In fact, do it three times. One copy goes near your computer in case you need it. One goes in your safe deposit box. The third copy gets hermetically sealed and buried at least 500 ft underneath a concrete bunker. You might not survive global thermonuclear war, but your copy of AE will.
Why? Just burn a copy of the DL to CD and write the serial number on the disc. The end.

No reason not to. Costs the same and you get them to print your manual for you. Not to mention it makes a fine exhibit to use at your trial as the justification. "I had to do it! She interrupted my WitP:AE Game, and threw out my notes! SEE??"

Actually you should download and order on the SECOND day after release. That way I can get mine the first day without delay.

Exactly!

EDIT: and I want the box! I have this nice little Hall of Fame of CD cases on the shelf above my monitor: UV. WITP, WPO. AE will look so nice sitting up there with them!

I took an option with more risk involved.

Last year I sent Terminus an enveloped stuffed full of cash. In return he said that on day 1 of release, Don and Joe would show up at my place with a boxed copy of WITP-AE and as long as I fed them they would stay for a whole week giving me lessons on all the new stuff in it.

I hope that Terminus let Don and Joe in on the deal.

I will order a digital download and the physical copy. And I will burn a copy to a CD. And I will keep a copy in my 600+lb gunsafe. The only thing in my house that might outlast my copy of AE is the cockroaches.

You sure did. Joe and Don dont know how it works. They only know their little corner of it.

Now I might know a tester that knows something about it

Who said the manual is in color? I'm pretty sure the delay is due to the slowness of the scribes, all locked up in the back room, scratching out manuals using only black ink.

It sounded like such a good deal at the time.

Oh well then, DD and boxed will do for me.

I am sure Terminus will send my money back if he can't meet the obligations of our agreement. As he wouldn't want to tarnish his reputation, nor have Irish people everywhere "looking" for him...

Actually, now that you've mentioned feeding them chances are good that they'll show up anyway. You might have to stock up on beer to get answers out of them, though.
