HiHi

For accuracies sake the figuers read

Hamburg succesfully stormed
Russian dead 16,921 french dead 63,586

Copenhagen failed assault
Russian dead 9,424 Swedish dead 24,260

Sheeee, and these guys think they are gonna take Moscow!

Actully Bill you are lucky I was thinking of leaving the whole army in Hamburg, but thought it more prudent to move it back to Russia for the defence of the Motherland; still, there's a "What if?" for you

All the Best
Peter

It's a great game.  I am addicted. :)  I love it when the unpredictable happens. Although, that is how I lost my whole fleet. For some reason when attacked it went and hid in Mecklenburg instead of at "home". But I wrote that up to very interesting events beyond my control and fit perfectly with some of the chaos of naval operations described in Adkins' "The War for All the Oceans".

I wonder if it was the "guns" rating in these cities as well.  I wish you could see the guns ratings.  Are we walking in blind?  I mean, is there any way to determine the "guns" rating for a city before you decide to assault? I believe Stockholm is now up to a guns rating of 6. I don't know anywhere to check that but on my screens. Or?

Copenhagen certainly has taught me the value of taking my time a bit more.

I have noticed that sometimes cities surrender when you siege them and "fire at the walls". Apparently a serious breach is enough to get them to do that?

Actually the funniest thing about all this, is that the French Army that lost 63k was set to "Fire at the Walls".

Are you serious about that IronWarrior?  Were your units really set to fire at the walls?  100% sure?

I can see some possibility that your commander was a little anxious to show off to his girlfriend, but in most cases this should not have happened then.  hmmmm...

Mine, however, were set to storm the walls.

The guns rating is visible when you click on any province.

Yeah, guns add a certain percentage of damage to each garrison attack. So a high guns level would lead to more casualties on the part of the sieging force.

Cool. Wow. Lots of glory losses this turn.

Getting to 1000 for France or Britain isn't as easy as I thought it would be!

France and Prussia, did you ratify the "Baltic Stability Pact" last turn? I am asking this because I am trying to trouble shoot any issues with the game for patches. :)

How did France manage to siege a province they didnt start their movement in (Bosnia)? Sieges are supposed to happen before movement, not after.  My turn 20 shows Grand Armee I starting turn 20 in Illyria.  Is that FOW?  Were they actually in Bosnia already?  Very weird.

That is about the only unexpected thing to happen for me this turn.

Good catch, Mus. Grande Armee I did indeed start the turn in Illyria. According to the in-game appendix under movement sub phases, sieges should occur before movement.

Either: I once again am not comprehending the manual; it's a bug; the garrison was too small/opposing force too large for the garrison to be considered an "opposing" force; or a combination of any of these.

Seems like this situation may have happened before, although I'm not certain.

HiHi

You are right Bill, it happened at Marseilles, 1 Militia on 1.7 moral v's Russian army on " a hell of a lot higher moral ", so probably your guess the garrison was too small/opposing force too large for the garrison to be considered an "opposing" force; has the right of it.

All the Best

If it isnt a bug the possibility ought to be discussed in the manual or appendix. Thats all. Not a huge deal. I just hadnt ever seen that happen before.

One possibility that struck me was that "Force Marching" might in certain circumstances count as the beginning of a new movement? I dont know, I do wish certain areas of the rules were a bit more fleshed out though.

I need a lawyer.  I want a binding decision on a course of action I will take from a "neutral" judge of our house rules before I send my turn in.

Whose decision will we accept?

Don't make to much fuss about that single house rule... Many things went ''wrong'' this game (ie everyone loosing 600 glory because of me!). I guess people will have a better feel of the game after this and we will restart once the patch is out!

On house rules, hopefully they will be less necessary next game, but if a disagreement arises this turn it will only provide fodder for discussion in establishing house rules for next game.  So since this game is so messed up in the Glory department I say the more problems arise probably the better
