It looks to me that the movement of units on the detailed combat map is jerky in relation to Forge of Freedom. Units are moving not smooth but abrupt from hex to hex. It looks to me that the units moves at the same way as if the fast movement option is selected but somewhat slower. Is this a bug or an intended game design?

I think this is intended.

That is intended.  Units don't have all the frames of animation to allow them to walk smoothly as they do in "Forge of Freedom" and so would look bad if they moved smoothly between hexes.

I understand, thank you for your reaction ericbabe.

One question, sometimes, when the AI is on its move things are showing very fast for me, also when the game delay setting is set to its maximum level 10. The map is switching to fast for me from one location to the next location if the AI has finished with one of its units. Is it possible to create a feature in a future patch that also result in a delay before an automatic switch occur to the next (nearby) map spot? This to give the human player somewhat (more) time to realize what he has seen happen?

That might be possible, I'll have to look at the code.
