Hello all,

long time lurker first time poster.

Let me begin with an understatement: this game looks great!
Reading this forum should be obligatory reading for all game developers; the way the developers of MWIF listen to their poterntial customers and fans and update their progess is nothing short of superb!!

Ok to the point of this post:
I have never played WIF so I'm now learning the rules I downloaded in anticipation of the release date.
(btw; will the manual be available as download before the release date?)

After my first read I think all game-concepts are starting to sink in. I now just need tp remember the 1400000000 details.

I am for example really confused about deducing which sea areas surroundi which ports
Also the borders between these area's sometimes seem confusing...

some examples on the map I don't really understand/need clarification:

A ship sailing out of Derry:
can you move it to the Faeroes Gap or to the Bay of Biscay or to both (my guess)
Some for A ship out of Belfast: 1 or both of the areas

The confusion for me arises from the placement of the blue dividing line through the Isle of Man:
it seems to run North of Belfast: does this mean that Belfast is only surrounded by the bay of biscay?
The blue line stops in the hex of Belfast; why?

Second example:

Gibraltar is a port surrounded by two sea areas, right?
What about Tangier: it seems that the blue line is indicating that is only surrounded by the sea area Cape St Vincent, correct?

To summarize; how does one know which port leads to which sea area(s).
I understand rules 2.1.2 and 11.4 but I have a hard time getting these rules to work on the map.

This all probably will seem very basic (stupid) to a WIF-veteran; but the ports / sea areas thing really is confusing me...

Keep up the excellent work and thanks for reading!

Can only move it to the Faeroes Gap. Derry is a 1 sea area port.

Both. Belfast is a 2 Sea Area Port. You can see the Sea Area Boundary entering the Belfast hex, which means that Belfast is in both Sea Areas. Note : The position of the port graphic itself is irrelevant.

Sea Area Boundaries all stop some pixels in the coastal hex they arrive in.

Off course.

Wrong.
Tangier is a 2 sea area port, same as Gibraltar.
Tip : Only look at the HEX, not the PORT position to understand what sea area a port is adjacent too. We are talking of a Port HEX.

Explained above I believe.

Ok thanks; don't look at the symbol but consider the hex.

Yes. Of course Patrice has this all correct.

You can get clarity on this by placing the cursor over a hex. One of the panels of the Main form shows all adjacent sea areas. This is true not only for port, but also for all coastal hexes and (obviously) sea areas themselves.

This is a great point. On the physical map you can clearly see whether a port is on two sea areas, but upon visual inspection it is less clear in MWIF.

Can a visual alignment change of the blue-divider be thrown into the feature request bag for post-release?

Sure, but I wouldn't want to stick my hand down in that bag.

It's the pre-release bag I'm afraid to put my hand in...
