Does it matter on any non-host PC?

I'm guessing/hoping that this is the case. I think since Terje started it with the mod and I have it, we might be OK. Maybe Russian Guard can let us know.

I have now implemented the mod and am able to open a saved game - no idea if that is a good sign..?

Sorry team mates - a fauz pas. I seemed to have missed the fact we were using 'all generals' when I saw in a post that it was preferential that we check how the patch had gone in order to sell the game to new users...?

If you copy the 1792_S file it will name itself Copy of 1792_S in the same directory.  You then rename the files to COG2Generals, COG2Start and COG2Players (I believe, check the readme for instructions) and overwrite those files in the new directory and then change its name from copy of 1792_S to 1792_grandcampaign.

Then you can play standard 1792 scenarios and the new 1792 all generals games at the same time.

I will second that. We are already 2 days behind (2 months). A speed march will be in order to get caught up if this slow rate continues...

This is my vacation time-really want to get some turns in. Some of you may still have to be slaving away at work, but that just means you need to try harder.

Still no Russia... what's the consensus? 48 hour rule then ask for a replacement from the reserves?

Last turn I received from him was 6/17 @ 6am.

Ahh, the old problem of PBEM.

I do hope the Czar is OK, but if he cannot continue, then it is time to call in for the replacements.

I used to play many games by PBEM (TOAW)(switched to IP with CotA). During a long game it is to be expected that there will be breaks in the action for a variety of reasons. However, if someone has some event that will interfere with their turns rate, they should let the other player(s) know-or, if they are hospitalized, have an associate notify the other player.

This should be part of PBEM protocol. I think there should be a sticky with a few small points for PBEM players to review at the appropriate place in the forum.

As for the current rate of this game-it is dismal. I would like an average of 1 turn per day. To maintain that, it is necessary to do more than 1 turn on select days. This should be doable in the long run.

Agreed.

I think some people read "48 hour max turns" and either dont understand what max means or think that its just a goal, when really our goal for a turn length is much shorter and maximum means just that.

I sent a PM.

He posted yesterday in the hired guns forum, so I dont get why he hasnt done his turn yet.

Maybe its another issue with the email? He was one of the guys having probs sending to IW when we started the game.

In the first PBEM we started we had to change 2 players. Once we did that we didn't have much problems even tough I was the rotten egg a couple of times

I think the email probs at the start were from a typo in a previous email list. I have a feeling it has something to do with a plasma big screen tv.

Everyone else has turned their files over very fast. I'm not really into tracking people down, if their interest fades then maybe we should find a replacement. I don't want to lose any of our current players that are being kept waiting.

Well it's been > 72 hours since I sent the last turn. I'm normally a patient guy, but we need to keep this rolling. If Anthropoid returns we can put him back on the reserve list.

Anyone interested in taking over for Russia plase speak up.

(Also does anyone know how we override Russia's password?)

HiHi

Thanks for the invite Bill, but I ain't keen on faffing about altering game files etc, as mentioned elsewhere it gives me the HeeBeeGeeBees just thinking about it.

Re password, Mat has done this so he's now the, "Offical", expert (promotion comes fast in this game ), but I think all you need to do is on Russias file in the PBEM policy section (lower left corner) is alter the password to default and take it from there, but I ain't 100% sure on that so ...

I hope Anthropoid hasn't dropped out as we're also waiting for him in the 'Another PBEM' game, anyone emailed him?

All the Best
Peter

His latest posts is all about technical issues with running his new setup, so might be that that is causing the delay???

Don't think so Terje, well here judge for yourself. The last email i received:

Sorry that took me a while. I finlly got Hired Guns running on my souped up desktop with Big Screen TV last night J J !!

Unless he's fried his vid card, I'd assume he could use the monitor on the laptop. If so he has my appologies, but how long do you guys want to wait? what if his rig is in the shop for months?

This group has potential for a very quick turnaround of files, everyone else has been lightning quick... I don't want to lose anyone. If someone is going to be out due to RL concerns I don't mind waiting, would just like to know. I don't even care what the reason is... if you want to go on a 5 day nose-picking spree, just let me know in advance.

Heh I just noticed he said 'desktop' in the email and mentioned having a 'laptop' in forum threads, so that would seem to make it even more unlikely that technical issues are preventing replies.
