Developments

New projects are springing up everywhere-sort of. The treasury needs to be strengthened. It is planned to limit new projects to 2 per month for the time being. This will allow for a healthy increase in gold reserves.

The emphasis will be on courts and barracks for some time to come.

Italy

Italy will be a prime area of concern with a possible war with Spain. There are two large threat forces in Italy; the Prussian in Rome and Spaniards in Venice. Both those forces are about 50% of a full army, but still could be dangerous.

The Ottoman force that will likely be involved in Italy is the 1st Army commanded by the Sultan himself. The second Army will have some other little tasks to attend to.

1st Ottoman Army

The first Army is nearly complete in its reorganization. There is one more artillery regiment to be added. It is currently at 85% readiness-this will be increased as the situation warrants.

Military Training

The Army was upgraded with square firepower. Hopefully this will neutralize Spanish superiority in cavalry.

Glory Standings

All positions are stable for the time being. It will take a surrender or multiple battles to shift the current situation.

A sorely needed barracks was just completed. Quarterly increase has fallen from a high of 90 per quarter during the last war down to 77 per quarter-that is inadequate for the Empires defenses.

Ottoman Glory Increase

The monthly increase is impressive-second only to Spain's at this time. It should be increased just a little more.

DoW on Spain

After many discussions it has been decided that the threat posed by Spain cannot be tolerated any longer. A DoW was issued this month-in March the Army marches.

Strategic Map

It is a bit crowded in northern Italy. However, as the Spanish and Prussian forces there are quite small there may not be much fighting-other than siege actions.

The Ottoman 2nd Army is already dis-embarking in Tunisia-ready to advance.

Prussian Army

Prussia has maintained a presence in Italy for some time. The intentions of the Prussian King is not quite clear. The force is too small to be of any great threat, but large enough to be sorely missed if destroyed. It is possible that it is intended to have both the Spanish force in Venice and the Prussian Army engage one of the Otto Armies. I don't think that would work.

Venice Garrison

Spain has maintained a fairly large force as a garrison in Venice. It seems like the Spanish King did not believe the Ottoman Empire would go to war so soon. As it is, that large Spanish force is in great peril of being lost.

North Africa

It was not known if protocol would allow for Ottoman forces to land in occupied Spanish territory. It was desired to land the 2nd Army in Tunis, which is occupied by Great Britain, so as to be able to march on Tripoli at the beginning of the war.

Apparently, there is no problem in moving into any province that is controlled by an ally.

Gibraltar

he Spanish King must be mad-he is actually laying siege to Gibraltar. If Spain was to actually capture it there would be some strategic implications for Great Britain. I do not think it is likely to fall.

Strength Comparisons

Ottoman forces continue a rapid increase in numbers and quality. All powers except Spain and Sweden are increasing also.

Austrian Moral

Austria has taken a horrible fall in moral due to losing Empire status. I suspect the loss of empire will be revered in April. However, that will not reveres this major drop in moral-not for a couple of years.

Trade

This report only partially covers total trade. Recently, trades were begun with France. There is now a total of 30 spice and 15 luxuries being exported to France. This should help in it recovering moral faster.

The O.E. took a 20 point loss due to the DoW. It is still holding almost a 100 point lead over Great Britain.

Prussia is walking away with its tail between its legs-Spain will be defeated. It will not take too long.

How swiftly things change. It was three against one with G.B. as the underdog-now it is three against one with Spain as the underdog-however, that dog can't swim. Spain will be cornered like a rat with no place to run.

Spain looks to be moving its main forces north. The Russians are also moving closer to its western borders-something is going on there.

2nd Army

The 2nd Army is in position to storm Tripoli. It has been reduced in strength for the African operations. It will be increased when it returns to Europe.

The stage is set, but for what? The first Army will advance on Venice this month. There is still no state of war with Prussia. Just what will the Prussian King do? He honored his agreement with Spain when G.B. attacked Spain-will he do the same now?

The first four items on the list were the doctrines which were available in 1792. Hot Shot was acquired with naval experience points.

Otto Upgrades

It was 1801 by the time that organized withdrawal was acquired. several of the early upgrades are quite cheap-costing 60 to 75 experience points. Formation drilling cost 270 alone.

These are the last few of the current list of doctrines. Levee in Mass and Universal Mobb cost 330 in experience together. Those will give Ottoman forces more strategic depth-and staying power.

A rapid pace of upgrades will continue.
