Yep, crossing open roads is never fun (not sure even a chicken would want to cross a CC road!). Fairly happy with the area I got on that map to this point considering the numbers, but one can always try and add to it, thats basically what I did last battle. I did not expect the end result, more of the game then what I did. Sometimes you attack an area with equal numbers and you are either stalled or pushed back, this time after a very lengthy firefight, the defense broke just enuff for me to get thru it a little bit. Help is on the way for this Bg, but at same time I dont need any goldbrick'n Bgs either! Dog Red: Turn 1, Day 2. WN 66/716th INF DIV vs 115th RGT/ 29th INF DIV I definitly paid a high price for the way I attacked this map, not only in men power but also with the amount of area I still had to get thru for the final flag this battle. I did not take anything for granted here this time (after facing a deployment behind my orginal setup on another map), basically I deployed at my outer perimeter, which was a long way from my objective let me tell you. His defense was as well prepared as I expected it to be, stalling me at every step of the way. I finally reached the summit of the southern hill (a feat which seemed like I never would accomplish when I first started battling this map) and last flag area with just under 2 minutes left. I had to rush several infantry teams thru minefield (few mini- ka-booms!), with the aid of a lone M5 (which survived a missed faust) the flag fell neutral just as time expired. That was just enuff to secure this map and put this nightmare to rest! ************************************************************************** Counter attack! Easy Red: 914th RGT/352nd ID vs 18th RGT/ 1st INF DIV Enuff already with this map. Just as my boys were gearing up to head inland after a well needed break, here comes jerry with a major counter attack! Ok, enuff with the BS again, basically Bob screwed up similar to what I did at Troarn. He guessed I might move up the beach and he thought even if I did not, I would win the movement and we would battle on his terms at Colleville. Well it did not work out that way, so basically his Bg was a sitting duck to be slaughtered when it won the movement to enter this bloody map. I made sure as I was setting up for this feast that I had a picture of 5th Para sitting right next to the monitor so as not to forget the pain jerry caused me in a similar situation. Tactics I needed to use here were pretty simple. See the enemy (no cover by the way, as my infantry pressed into them their fate was sealed), blast the enemy with tanks until either everyone of them left a red spot on my monitor or morale broke, which ever came first I did not care. Beach secured for the second consecutive time and hopefully the last! ************************************************************************** Second try St Honorine! St Honorine: 916th RGT/352nd ID vs 26th RGT/1st ID As news of the demise of the 914th filters in I am sure this Rgt will be looking for revenge! Unfortunatly I did not give them the opportunity this turn!
