UV and WITP have been the best investments I have ever made in terms of what I got for my money.  I await AE with the gut feeling that this trend will continue.  Let the complainers have their say and either buy or not.

Of course the idea of a 10 hour first turn is a bit intimidating

It's still 10 hours well spent. Perhaps you would rather take the old lady shopping for 10 hours or dig a ditch somewhere?

After workin' on AE for 3 years - I think the ditch sounds like a really relaxing idea!

I can only imagine but...take a deep breath, grab a (drink of choice), relax, read some AAR's after AE is released...guarantee you will come down off the ditch digging idea.

I note that you didn't choose the "take the wife shopping" option!

I'd just like to jump in and say a big thanks to all the developers and forum members that took the time to make this even a possibility. Truly great games only come along a few times in the span of decade and this is one of them. If WitP isn't twice or thrice the game of others around it, I don't know what is. I've probably bought a couple of dozen games since I've bought WitP and I keep coming back to it. If I have to pay lots of money for a game, I'd rather it go to the people making the kinds of games I like rather than those I only give the once over to.

I find it slightly amusing that people continue to speculate about AE's price being "too high" WHEN NOBODY HAS TOLD THEM THE PRICE YET!!!!!

Actually there is a free way to find out. Just get the Matrix Pacwar game. It's a great deal less complex and detailed but the basic game system is pretty much the same. If you like Pacwar then go for either WITP or the bundle. In terms of complexity (or maybe more accurately level of detail) on a scale of one to ten then Pacwar would be maybe a three, WITP 7, and I suspect AE a 10.

Hi Bob,

Relatively speaking, and certainly when they were released, all three are 10s (if not 11s). :)

Shirley, you must be kidding. PW is only similar to WitP in that it addresses the same conflict at the same scale and was(reputedly) designed by Gary Grigsby. There are few dynamic similarities.

Hi Guys,
Althought I have had this game for a few months now,I must be honest and say I have not devoted enough time to it,as I have been buying alot of other Matrix games since I first found out about Matrix games in 2008 !

Reality is dynamic, there are always people arriving to wargames. And people going out. When AE will be released some will for the first time know that there is this witp game.
