I've got an 8MB Pine AGP card and I was thinking of getting a PNY Verto GeForce3 64MB AGP as its only $99. I think that I will also need more memory on my card for CL.

They make a lot of claims that it loads digital images faster, etc.

Can anyone recommend this or say its no good?

Like Marc said, is it a TI series, if so they are excellent cards even if it is the slightly lower performer TI 200. I would stay away from the MX series, they have the GeForce design but they are high priced cards will minimal power. You can get a TI 200 that almost doubles the performance of the best MX card for less than the MX's cost. As you know CL requires 32mb video card according to system spes, but I think this is to be safe because without true 3D support I have yet to see any game require that much video power. The Alpha as you is also due out soon, so we'll be able to get some benchmarking done.

Hmm, it doesn't say one way or another if its TI or MX. It does say this:

The Verto GeForce3 utilizes NVIDIA's latest technology, the GeForce3 nfiniteFX GPU, which shakes up the gaming industry with unprecedented visual effects and sizzling frame rates. This
256-bit graphics engine with Lightspeed Memory Architecture and HRAA (High-Resolution Antialiasing) delivers earth-shattering performance and fluid motion while providing a heightened level of realism to the most complex characters, scenes, and special effects.

What do you think? Is this the good one or not?

Larry, where did you find it, online tell me where and I'll research more. I've seen Geforce 3 TI 200 online as low as $85 which is a quaility card and the TI 500 for $126.

Ok, Larry I found the info I was looking for. The Geforce 3 Verto is put out by PNY, and this particular card is the in between model between th TI 200 and the TI 500 as the MX series are not available in the Geforce 3 series only in Geforce 2 & Geforce 4. It's a quality card and you should buy it. So in short it's actually better than the TI 200 and has slightly less power than the top of the line Geforce 3 TI 500. I hope this helps.:D

Your welcome, good luck with it. Make sure you update to latest Nvidia drivers to get the best quality and performance from your card. Current build is 28.32 with newer version in beta waiting to go final.

My Verto card came in. As a an example of what it does, an image cataloging program that used to take 15 sec or so to load, now loads so fast that if you blink you will literally miss the splash screen!

Thanks for the advice!
