Why is it a stupid thread? The Headline of the thread brings up a valid and relevant subject.

Assuming you are not a Allied fanboy but a gamer like me who wants a high quality game, who offer challenge to all sides on the same time as being within the historical limitations, then I find it strange that you do not appreciate the subject and the corresponding debate.

No, the headline shows the mentality of the original poster, and the subsequent "debate" has proved that it's stupid.

+1 to the idea of historical what-if and not worrying about "winning" against the AI. I've decided that I made so many mistakes and took so many losses in the Dec 1941.-June 1942 period that trying an historical approach is going to be a tough slog. So . . . I'm going to try, beginning in Jan. 1943, a hey-diddle-diddle-right-up-the-middle war: Kwaj, Eniwetok, Ponape, Truk, Marianas, Iwo, HI, and losses be darned. Forget the Solomons. Use subs hyper-aggresively to isolate the DEI. Throw away Chinese units by the score to suck down Japanese armament points and aircraft stocks. See what happens.

I did an over-the-top invasion through the Aleutians in my first AI WITP game, before I knew how "dumb" it was. Had 1/3 of the HI by mid-1943. I may try that with AE on my next run and see how this AI handles it.

Re-running histopry is boring.

Ya'll might try scen006 (shameless plug). It's got some nice Japanese pics in it. Almost brand new. Only played by a little old lady from Deaf Smith County, TX, on alternate Fridays at the local church Bingo and AE social. She likes the Japanese pics. Says the flag reminds her of what her husband's eyeballs looked like after a night out with his buddies down to the Legion Hall.

There ya go!

Just consider that all the photographs in the game have to come from open, non-copyright sources, and that good quality pictures of Japanese subjects are, shall we say, difficult to come by when that's all you have.

It's easy to cry about stuff like this when you don't know the whole story.

I have a feeling those intro pictures are not old WW2 era pictures.
Looks like they are just hired models posing for a photo shoot. They all look like the same persion(s) in different roles. I might be wrong though but they really don't look vintage.

YH has a point.  I for one would not mind having one of the loading screens have a pic of a stunningly beautiful Geisha.  Or a more neutral one so none of the fanboys can be upset.....LargeSlowTarget's island girls!

Speaking of that: I have found my old sigpic on one of my ancient computers - here it comes!

And AE is for AFBs - what do you expect when the developer calls himself "Henderson Field Designs"?
