Went to the Hurricanes game this afternoon, and they finally broke their 14 game winless streak.

Won today, 5 - 4 in a shootout.

And good evening to all. We just got back from a fun, long football weekend. Saw Tennessee get destroyed by Ole Miss, but had a great time anyway.

Hi Bruce.

In 7 days, I'll already be nursing my first sunburn, picking powder white sand out of my ears, and sipping my favorite Haitian Rhum in the Turks.

Thanksgiving dinner will be lobster for us this year.

What Would Be Different If Men Really Ruled the World

Hallmark would make "Sorry, what was your name again" cards.

When your wife really needed to talk to you during the game, she'd appear in a little box in the corner of the screen during a time-out.

Breaking up would be a lot easier. A smack to the *** and a "Nice hustle, you'll get 'em next time" would pretty much do it.

Birth control would come in ale or lager.

Each year, your raise would be pegged to the fortunes of the MLB team of your choice.

The funniest guy in the office would get to be CEO.

At the end of the workday, a whistle would blow and you'd jump out your window and slide down the tail of a brontosaurus and right into your car like Fred Flintstone.

Lifeguards could remove citizens from beaches for violating the "public ugliness" ordinance. You of course would get a pass.

Tanks would be far easier to rent.

Garbage would take itself out.

Instead of beer belly, you'd get "beer biceps."

Valentine's Day would be moved to February 29th so it would only occur in leap years.

On Groundhog Day, if you saw your shadow, you'd get the day off to go drinking. Mother's Day, too.

St. Patrick's Day, however, would remain exactly the same. But it would be celebrated every month.

When a cop gave you a ticket, every smart-aleck answer you responded with would actually reduce your fine. As in: Cop: "You know how fast you were going" You: "All I know is, I was spilling my beer all over the place." Cop: "Nice one. That's $10 off."

Telephones would automatically cut off after 30 seconds of conversation.

This is a beautiful picture. Many places have the same young soldiers guarding their own same death memorial for the millions who died. I think maybe some guards should come from all of Europe and maybe America too. A guard of 2 men from a country to learn about their comrads and honor, and a guard of 2 men from another country to honor a comrade or a honest enemy and a guard of 2 men from leaders. they must be magtigs and look at the faces of the young men they send to die and look at the faces of the young men they will kill and move evey body around so evey body sees all the other faces. I think we are all the same in death and I think we are all the same in honor.

Straight, good words!
We should learn that no civilized country should go to war with another civilized again. Can their be more stupidity to be forced killing someone you've never met before? Can something be more inhuman?

How about killing someone you do know, just because they are of a different ethnic background? Do I need to provide examples or are you hearing me? Many of our Thread brothers know of what I speak...and hopefully are as appalled as I am at it.

"Civilized" is a term more honored in the breach of it than otherwise to paraphrase Mark Twain.

Thinking about racial things is totally out of my mind. As I don't care about races, I don't mention them. Why should it matter whether you're black, white, yellow, red, blue or green? Other things matter, but not the colour of skin.

Hi all,

Tithe... Strangely sunny outside; I'd forgotten what sunshine looks like.

It is +17 degrees Centigrade here with blue skies and sun... strange... very strange... (not to mention unhealthy because the flu would spread even faster)...

Leo-I'm not sure how you figure this. Sunlight is a good disinfectant and warmer temperatures very much inhibit spread of influenza viruses. At freezing temperature, influenza viruses can stick around an environment in excess of a month. At room temperatures, this time drops to 3-4 days.

Warm sunny weather is a blessing for influenza control! Enjoy!

The problem are humans and not viruses...

When there is big difference in night / day temperatures (as we see now in Europe - in the night it is usually around 0 degrees Centigrade and in the day it can even go to +15 degrees Centigrade) the humans are much more reckless (i.e. they tend to be less cautios regarding their clothing)... it is great time to catch colds and with colds there is always a way for complications and to catch a flu!

BTW, my wife is a medical doctor...

I stopped being appalled at "Historiker" a good while back now. They say first impressions are usually correct, and my first impression certainly was.

It actually took me about 3 times looking at that other thread before I remembered what spanners are.

ZOING!(TM)

Got that Luftwaffe book Nik recommended today. Not impressed so far; the author list David Irving, the neo-nazi "historian", in his bibliography. Still, it may improve later.
