Thread, I hope the summer's is a good one this year, otherwise the batteries will be completely flat come next winter...

You need batteries to get through winter?!!? Man, winter is when I recharge. Summer is the soul-eating, mind-numbing time of year in this part of the world. It's a little taste of hell.

Um....horses are serious work at all times of the year...not too mention a serious expense. They are lovely to look at and ride, but owning them.....

I leave that to the real cowboys.

There.  That should help a bit.

As long as its not store brand.

Find you a nice little coffee roaster unassociated with any sort of corporate behemoth. I KNOW there has to be one on Long Island.

I'm to the point where I'm really just fracking sick of dealing with corporations. They get as little of my business as I can possibly manage.

I hate winter. Dark and unpleasant in the best of times.

Morning chaps   Finally got to bed at 0200 this morning.  I've somehow managed to get suckered into the late evening feed which is meant to be at 2300, but for some reason he wanted to sleep until 1am   And then he screamed everytime I tried to take the bottle away to burp him.  On the positive side he's started smiling a lot lately

Genuine smiles or gas?

Dark is good! Blazing hot is bad! Thus I like winter, though admittedly, spring and fall are better. Anything but the hades that is summer.

Of course, summer is probably a totally different animal in your area.

raining.

Good news for daughter, she got an unconditional acceptance to the 6th form college she wanted. That's a bit less teenage angst to deal with.

bad news for son. face kissed the floor this morning at school. Bloody nose, on his way to the quacks.

Did he get sucker punched?

I was interpreting this to mean that, on the way to feed the ducks, he slipped on some duck **** and fell.

Ugh. Beady-eyed dinosaurs and 2000lb. of twitching muscle just waiting to stave in your skull when spooked by a barking dog 3 miles away.

Although I must confess riding in the Irish countryside was quite a bit of fun....provided that it's someone else's horse the other 364 days of they year.

Just fell flat on his face outside the school.

A quack - An untrained person who pretends to be a physician and dispenses medical advice and treatment.

Mostly smiles, but the occasional gassy outbreak just to keep us on our toes

Its not that bad. You only have to worry about them spooking at streams.....even when they're not there.

I hope not. non-existant streams are scary enough when one is leading a cranky Black QH Mare and a dopey Thoroughbred Gelding in from pasture.
