And we are half-way through day five of "Snow-pocalypse" (as it has been so declared by our President) and DC is waiting with bated breath for the next 20+ inches of snow. Frankly , I perfer "snow-mageddon" .

The government is closed (again) , the Metro is finally back up ,(but preparring to shut down as soon as the accumulation hits 8", little of the previous snow has been removed, airports and trains have just restored service , and are preparring to shut down. They opened just long enough to evacuate all the stranded tourists.

And I'm finally catching up on reading and watching old movies and long dead TV shows (on DVD).

I think I'd prefer for the government to be closed. They can't get us into any more trouble if theyre not there.

No , now they have time to think and plan their future action.....that bodes badly for the future.

I agree, but sadism has a humor aesthetic all it's own. That is a trait senior NCOs seem to have in spades.

They get it in the cloning tanks. If you think about all the stories people tell of their DI or platoon sergeant or whatever, they all sound remarkably similar. Gotta be clones.

Sometimes they get extra-creative. One of the gents had us sing his favorite selections from Metallica's Black Album on runs.

In basic, mine tormented us with Johnny Horton records. How many times in 24 hours can you stand to hear "Sink the Bismark"?

What? A whole 12 inches? How will you ever cope?

12-14", thank you very much. I dont have to cope at all. In fact, I dont plan to leave the house. As a bonus, GFU's classes may be canceled. Unemployment does have certain advantages.

Indeed! But the most important question....never mind the grocery store, did you visit the liqor store?

Mine really liked "Poison Ivy" by The Coasters. Turned it into a cadence he did. Can't hear that song without flashbacks.

Not a senior one.

That means you didnt get a license to torture?

A junior NCO gets a licence to tease. A senior NCO gets a licence to torture. A very senior NCO gets people to torture the enlisted for him. His job is to torture junior officers!

Great to hear, MO!  Thanks for passing the word along, and tell that old fart we expect to hear fantastic stories of his flings with Sports Illustrated swimsuit models during his "vacation" when he gets back.

Oh , we are having a blast! No work , and it's great fun to watch people play "bumper-cars" from the "sky-box" (a wall to ceiling glassed in balcony). It's incredibly funny to see people who think they know how to drive in snow getting stuck in SUV's , or losing control because they were going to fast and hitting a police cruiser! That was definately a kodak moment! And the cop was NOT amused either!
Who say's you can't have fun staying home?

Hello THREAD people. I am very sorry that i made people upset but I did not hear completely. When Jwe goes out of jail he will come back here and go to the mod thread. He will just not go again to the main forum. I am sorry if i said he will go away from everything. It is not so and i had my brookie slapped to show it. Please accept my appologies. He is just my friend and sometimes i get madder than he does when bad things happen.

MO

Thanks for keeping us informed. Please tell JWE that we are thinking of him!

Hello Tithe.

I am struggling with the consequences from my military excercise on friday.

I have giant blisters under/around my feet, the skin on my calves(?) was rubbed away in 6cm- scale wounds by bootlegs,

and thats not all of them.

UARG!

With what's described above in mind, I'm (almost) ashamed to tell you guys that I'm also away on a military exercise ...

Why I'm ashamed?

Because I'm living at a 4-star hotel serving 5-star dinners with (close to) all expenses paid ...

Because my entire workload this week in this "operational level exercise" consists of 1/ Giving my view on the factors "time, space & forces" for the the blue & red side involved in the scenario and 2/ together with the red & blue staffs, (computer) wargame their opplans vs each other using Operational Art of War III ...

I (almost) feel I should spank myself ... but then again, that would be too much job ...

Ok then, maybe I should tell you that I also have an upcoming survival training exercise in a couple of weeks.

I suspect I have some blisters coming my way then as well ...
