Like I said...it wasn't too bad yet.

It's probably a balancing act between reducing forum discussions to so much puffery and niceties versus interesting debate about contentious issues by well-meaning individuals. So, in the absence of the latter:

How's the weather where you are?

What did you have for breakfast?

How is your job and family?

How about this game!

All good , safe and company approved questions! Well done!

If everyone would green button the trolls, such discussions could probably be done.

It certainly does no one any good to ignore the ugly things in history....apparently Erik has learned that lesson.

The beauty of THE THREAD!!! is that everyone who is a regular here does not take themselves too seriously. We can actually banter about crazy and real issues without it becoming a contest to prove who is superior. We all already know I am.

Most of those topics don't belong in the WitP or AE forums. General discussion is a good place for it. That way, I can easily ignore it.

It was in general discussion. We only became aware of it because some people were offended and it imediately incited the rest of us to run over there to see what the fuss was about!

It's too dangerous to be anywhere on the Matrix forum.
It's risky enough to talk about the game , because that could lead to similar questions!

The Thread , and most of the War room is a nice safe , cozy place. No strife and little disagreement. Sort of like our own private little facebook. Except there's only one game , instead of lots of morons trying to get you to join in there Farm, pony or Mafia game. (Can I say Moron? Did I offend anyone? Sorry ) .

I think it was deleted.  I can't find it anymore.

Oliver Stone.  Sheesh.

It's in the general forums.
I don't think it was anywhere near the line yet , but apparently Erik is taking no chances these days.

Oh, THAT thread! You mean the one I willingly participated in? It wasn't too bad-yet...

We both participated in it. It's a dangerous discussion , and that makes us both dangerous people. We should feel awfull and go punish ourselves. Sing the "Barney song" 10 times. That should lower our IQ's by 20 points at least. Instant lobodomies!

Barney was a commie!!!

Barnie Fife was a COMMIE? Did sheriff Andy know?

Hey! As a moron-American, I am offended that you would suggest *I* would like that GD farm game on facebook. I can't tell you how many freakin' times I get asked to participate just because I know something about chickens and turkeys!

history has taught us that it would have quickly degenerated to the point where certain long term trolls would start posting pictures of Chinese skulls again to prove how evil and wrong the Japanese were. That was a particularily tasteful thread that started off just as innocently.

Which makes it so DANGEROUS! WE CAN'T DISCUSS SUCH THINGS!
It will inevitably lead to offending people! Or learning something! That's the same thing!

Exactly. I have LEARNED that you OFFEND me. Two for the price of one, sir!

How's the weather where you are?

Worst winter ever (for here, nothing compared to my home state of Nebraska or your Minnesota). I'm really sick of it.

What did you have for breakfast?

Stomach flu, thank you.

How is your job and family?

My job makes me want to be on the forum instead. I'm tempted to re-name one of the in-game battleships after my ex-wife.

How about this game!

They keep fixing things and adding new features. My OCD makes me feel like I should restart each time. Maybe someday I will get through the first month.

Maybe Steve needs a re-start on his grumpy geezer thread. I'm now sixty and not happy about it at all, as you can see.

Really looking forward to my next PBEM turn... I lost 27 subs at Manila I think, but my opponent is busy in RL, so we have had to wait. We are both gagging to get on with it, but my friend really has no choice but to stay focussed on his life at the moment.

I need to add some spam as well. At one point a forum member suggested my comments were without merit because I lacked a sufficient number of stars.

Hey, more chicken-related themeology, more betta.

Well, you've come to the right place. Lots of "Legion of Merit" here, with precious little to say-excepting spam, of course (COUGH) Onime (COUGH). Ordinarily, I'd have divided up the previous two sentences into two separate posts, with this sentence serving as a third post. This last sentence would deserve its own post.

Before you know it, you can be a spam-bot like the rest of us Threadsters.

Sounds like a KB Alpha strike on Manila-turn 1?

Speaking of chickens and spam, on one camping trip in my younger days, it was too windy for a campfire and I had to survive on cold chicken-based spam substitute. Whoever thought there would be a demand for such a product? I guess it was cheaper, but now I can't remember why I bought it unless it was part of the "suffer in the wilderness for a while to make normal life more acceptable" approach.

I would typically wait out the beta time frame to let others play with the patch testing, but higher screen resolutions are just too irresistible to me.  I have two AE installations, so I applied the beta patch to the one I only use to plan for my AI campaign.

HOT DAMN!!!  It looks awesome at 1400x1050 on my laptop!  I can't wait to check it out at 1920x1080 on my 24 inch monitor at work tomorrow!
