ORIGINAL: USS America Man, I seriously thought about replying to Leo in a PM. Now I wish I had. T is reacting very strongly, but he's also very right that one of the cardinal rules of THE THREAD!!! is no politics. There are too many of us here who come from very different backgrounds and political positions to let it rear it's ugly head. Keeping politics out of THE THREAD!!! keeps it a refuge from most of the rest of the crap on the internet. My apologies to all my Thread Brothers for not remembering that. Mike to have a political discussion requires taking a political position. We didn't. Leo asked us how the bill would affect us, not our opion. We discussed the bill from a non-partisan , detached point of view. Exactly as we discuss the 2nd world war. Not as political advocates , but as historians. T has given his opion many times, on almost every subject under the sun , with a lot less consideration for the opions, concerns and feelings of others that you have and continue to show. In my view , you have nothing to apologize for. Nor do the rest of us. Actually, Steve, mea culpa. Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa (they strike their breasts). I *did* revert to opinion where none was called for. I clearly labeled my opinion as such. In hindsight, I should have offered none. That being said, I agree with your observations re: Terminus' offering of his opinion on other topics such as his personal political thoughts on Haiti or certain member's questionable genetic heritage elsewhere in the Forum. I think I've even called him on it / them more than once. None of us are infallible. Some are more fallible than others. If (or rather when) I do offend those on THE THREAD, I hope that they will patiently help me to ratchet my discourse back down a notch or two. Calm understanding and patience are the orders of the day.
