45 minutes at the driving range today, and now the rest of my family is down for a nap.

I'm waiting for them to wake up so I can do my workout with the equipment in the same room they are snoozing in.

Happy 4th of July to the US forum members.

Or as George W. Bush said:
quote:

We join in celebrating one of the great achievements in history, when 56 brave souls pledged their lives, liberty, and sacred honor to declare that America deserved to be free. More than two centuries later, it can be easy to take their act for granted. However, we must remember that the men who signed the Declaration in Philadelphia took an extraordinary risk, and all who fought in the Revolution showed tremendous courage. Their example has inspired generations of Americans to defend our freedom, including those who serve on the frontlines in Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere this 4th of July. As we celebrate this weekend, I hope all Americans will take a moment to honor those who have made our freedom possible, and to renew our commitment to building a democracy that lives up to the ideals they advanced and the sacrifices they made. May God bless America.

USO had a pledge campaign this past month. Chuck Norris led the appeal. If you donated $20, they sent you a "I supported the troops" t-shirt. Because I feared for my life (are YOU gonna tell Chuck Norris 'no'?), I elected to get 8 of them for an extended family get together.

Interesting bit about that George prat from Wiki. Penitence and remorse a natural and inevitable process, eh?

George III is often accused of obstinately trying to keep Great Britain at war with the revolutionaries in America, despite the opinions of his own ministers. In the words of the Victorian author George Trevelyan, the King was determined "never to acknowledge the independence of the Americans, and to punish their contumacy by the indefinite prolongation of a war which promised to be eternal." The King wanted to "keep the rebels harassed, anxious, and poor, until the day when, by a natural and inevitable process, discontent and disappointment were converted into penitence and remorse".

While I'll agree with you on the English bit (it is a fine language for all its idiosyncracies), you can't still be sore about being under Eisenhower, can you?

It's strange isn't it, that the other people are always more likely to give in to penitence and remorse than your people? Even when experience has taught otherwise No matter who the other people are...

Hope you're all enjoying your day over there, don't do anything to daft though
