There do seem to be healthy discrepancies between both sides’ reports in some of the listed AARs.

I had 3 BB's Sunk at pearl, 1 torp hit from a midget sub on the Maryland, 1 Cl sunk, 140 planes destroyed. The Pow took 1 Torp during the AM phase, and 5 more in the PM phase, and sunk, Repulse made it back to singapore unharmed.

I also want to note that the Combat screen at PH was of Ford Island. That was very cool, what was even better, on the 2nd day of attacks, it showed Ford Isle again, but this time it showed burning ships and smoke. Just so im not over tired , I really did see that, right?

amazing job

What my first impressions are reading all the reports is it seems that it takes less torps to sink a BB now that in WiTP. Before it took 5-7 hits to kill one. Now i've seen as few as 3 kill a BB. Also seems a single will kill a DD fairly effective. I wonder what will happen once the MK14 dud ratio stops. Already starting to worry about my merchies and I haven't even got the game yet!

Yep. Glad someone noticed that and there are more Pearl screens as well.

Is it true that Terminus did some of the voice overs? I thought I heard during a torp hitting the side of a ship, someone saying "No"

You can't create an analysis of PH results from forum posts guys. The people most likely to post are those who got the more extreme results and were surprised enough to mention them. In pre-release testing, we saw a very nice bell curve centered around the roughly historical results (2-4 BBs).

Yes we did...in fact I was one of the foot draggers because I kept getting killed at PH....then I ran off a hundred or more first days ... and realized I was simply having bad luck...there is a bell curve.

Not to mention if people are really concerned about unhistorical first turns they can start on the Dec 8th scenario.

I lost PoW in WITP to a single torpedo hit once, so I'm not entirely sure thats the case...

Just ran the first turn, Repulse took three torps and is still with me. PoW was hit with two for 36flt(16 maj). Arizona went down though

About the only thing I'm wondering about is the frequence of Force Z attacks with Historical 1st turn and surprise on and 1 day turns. Force Z wasn't attacked and sunk until Dec 10th so why is it getting hit on the first turn? Not that I know all the details of their movement in the days leading up to the war, just wondering.

EDIT: I see it has already been asked and answered here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2179438

I didn't sink a thing at PH, either!

Of course, I'm the Allies and Japan had no problem sinking things....

I have run the 1st turn surprise about six times (just for grins) and the results do vary. This is fine with me. The randomness is what make it so cool. Anyways, you lose seven BBs on the first day and you are still the Allies and in a very good position to win. They don't really matter too much.

The only reason I lost a BB at PH was I tried to move it to SF with 59 major floation damage... turned out to be a bad choice Other wise damage was at the other end of the spectrum from whats been reported.

Heh, I watched the USN get clobbered at Pearl. Then I made a noobie mistake. Sent the USS Enterprise back towards Hawaii but the retreating IJN TF spotted the big E and sank her. That was the 2nd or 3rd turn? That was ridiculous, I'm not going to lose the big E on the second day so I just restarted.

I sent Enterprise west to rendezvous with Lexington; they're both pounding Wake Island's invaders right now but my Midway search planes have spotted an enemy TF southeast of them and heading west.

I'm thinking the KB is trying to cut off my carriers' route back home and I've got to figure out what's the best way to get away from them.  If I send them SE towards Johnston Island and they're headed SW towards Kwajalein our paths will intersect (bad).  If I send my carriers NE and then south back to Hawaii that may be the best route, as long as the contact report was accurate and the KB isn't actually north of Midway and headed back to the home islands.

Decisions, decisions; I can see why TF commanders tended to not get a lot of sleep and develop ulcers...

Heh, thats what I did.

I ended up having to sail them right by Kwajalein at full speed to get them out of there, I was more afraid of KB than LBA there in 1941... hitting Wake is tempting but you really are out on a limb there.

I'm thinking the northern route is safer; the enemy TF is SE of Midway by 3 hexes and headed west, about where I'd think the KB ought to be (on Day 2 got airstrikes on Indianapolis from NW of Hawaii).  I've adjusted the search arcs for Midway so should get better results in my next turn.  I figure I've got two days before I have to get the heck away from Wake so we'll see.  I have a mini-TF of two AK's and some escorts with supplies for Wake headed there right now, but depending on what happens in the next week I may need them to divert to Midway instead.
