Aide: Right, I make those as idiosynchratic code words, probably operationally speciific. "Dodah" appears to be a geographic location. "The whatsit" could be a military unit.

Cmdr. Rochefort: Agreed. Let's get cracking on this. I want a cross reference of major unit movements in the last two weeks on JN-25.

That will take a while to crack this code. Better get moving, for it will take all the 'Dodah' day. I'll bet my money on the location being a 'bay' somewhere. At least somebody bet on the bay.

I take it Desperation Otter is a joint brown and green job op?

That is "Operation" to you....and I think it's "Stoat" now...but it may have to be changed now that I let it out.

As for the compostion, it is all very hush-hush but, based on prep, my guess is this:

Broome: Entire Aus. I Corps (minus the HQ), some additional SWPAC-flagged Aussie arty (both of these group are Digger, of course)

Perhaps some US Army tank destroyers and engineers (Green Jobs)

Port Headland: 2nd Br. Div (Brown Jobs)

East Africa Brigade (We may have to come up with another term here)

US 32nd ID may be in a second wave or something.

Private: I AM IDI AMIN DADA! SOME DAY I WILL BE FIELD MARSHALL!

Sargeant: Is that right? <he seems genuinely interested>

Private: Yes! I am Idi Amin Dada. I am Kakwa.

Sargeant: Well Mr. Dada, when you are Field Marshall YOU can give the orders but right now YOU stir the ******* rice!

Check this out. Field Marshal and President for Life (and former cook in the King's African Rifles) Idi Amin Dada has allegedly been dead for 8 years but he still has a Myspace page.

http://www.myspace.com/idi_amin_dada

I hope he doesn't come after us for residuals or something. Do you think I should tell him he is in the story and is going to Port Headland where there are 25,000 angry LYB's?

Correction...I thought it was Facebook but it appears he is the last person on Myspace.

The lure of contacting an allegedly dead person on a dead social media site is now irresistible.

Pretend I don't know anything about social media and only signed up for Facebook so I could spy on my daughter.

How do I contact Field Marshal and President for Life Mr. Idi Amin Dada on Myspace. Do i need a seance or maybe a Haruspex?

OK, I signed up for Myspace and tried to send this message. He is apparently doing the deposed dictator gig in London so it should be about 6 PM Sunday. We shall see.

Dear Field Marshall Idi Amin Dada;

I was very pleasantly surprised to find your Mysapce account. We are recounting a history of WWII(c) in an "After Action Report" which details the battles and personal stories of the men (and women) involved in the action.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2341315&mpage=163&key=

As the King's African Rifles have moved to Perth (the one in Australia) and will soon go into battle with Kool-aide crazed Little Yellow Bastards at Port Headland, I thought you might find it interesting to discover that you are a character in the story.

Please be aware that this is WWII(c) so some of the details might differ from your recollections. Also, please feel free to message me on Myspace if you have any suggestions or critiques. I hope you enjoy the story.

Good Evening;

I am Field Marshall Idi Amin Dada. I am also President for Life of Uganda but I am in exile in London. I received a message from a junior officer that I was a character in this history.

I can tell you that nothing in here is true. I never cooked rice. I was never in Perth and no Sargeant would ever dare to speak to me in such fashion.

I am also very good looking.

As bad as Idi was, I'm just glad that you didn't choose to introduce a certain "Pvt. Jean-Bedel Bokassa" of the Free French Army into this narrative.

I'd hate to hear an anecdote about him stirring up a special family recipe for "stew" in Perth.

And Alex, for my next turn on Jeopardy!, I'd like to try Late 20th Century African Dictators for $500...

I'd recommend that any troopers who get assigned to Tahiti diligently stick to their C- and K-rations, rather than "dining on the local economy."

Wasn't Bokassa rumored to be more of the Hannible Lector type? Dining on his defeated opponents and going so far as to serve them to his guests.

We have the smartest politicians in the world. I like to learn things from them. I was thinking of sending a taunting message to Rord Admirar Nerson and Rod Admirar Fabertong ..."Don't make us call our bluff"

What do you think? Pretty intimidating, eh?

Here is the air situation before Weasel. The ranges (and number of Jap fighters)will test the resources of the USAAF and RAAF in 8-42.

All the heavy bomber groups in the PTO (save for 38 B-17's at Suva) are in Oz, either at Alice (level 7) or Geraldton (Level 7). Meekathrurra is level 5. All the P-38's (48) in the PTO are also ready. Port Headland, Broome and Wyndham will have to be taken down a few notches to "safely" land at Port Headland and Broome. Darwin could host Netties but they would not be escorted. As Broome is discovered to have no fighter cover, I am sending in B-24's from Alice today. Maybe they will spread out their fighters a bit. Even with a level 7 field, all the B-24's at Alice can't operate at once due to stacking restrictions.

An enigma I just thought of yesterday while listening to a 6 month old entertain himself.:

What did they call the "motorboat sound" before there were motorboats????

You think THAT makes your head hurt? Ask yourself this:

What if the "motorboat sound" were only invented AFTER the motorboat was invented???*

* Pleaase note the erudite use of the subjunctive tense to connote conditionality.

I got a cold call from an attorney <crosses himself> from XXXXXXXX. She wanted a doctor outside the geographic area to review charts in an alleged malpractice case. As she was representing the defendant and it was right up my alley (the clinical situation not malpractice ), I was favorably inclined. She wanted a CV (curriculum vitae not an aircraft carrier) and a fee schedule.

"Fee schedule", I thought? How should I know? I thought about the corporate attorney who wanted to charge us $520 an hour to regurgitate his boiler plate forms and how annoyed that made me.

"350 an hour", I pretended to say confidently. She got really excited..no I mean REALLY excited like she had just found tickets to Disneyland or something.

"Great, I'll Fed Ex the chart over to you tomorrow". And that is exactly what they did. I think I underbid Guess I'll have to make up for it by thinking about the case when I am taking a shower (as is the standard practice at D,C&H, LLP.)

Hopefully, you'll get deposed and add to them hours. Don't forget to keep a list of incurred expenses like chlorine for your hottub. You can say that reviewing the file in your hottub is necessary to your process.

Young man in fine linen slacks:< looking at application> Says here you have been in the King's African Rifles for 5 weeks and have already made Sargeant. How did you manage that Sgt. Dada?

Young man in fine linen slacks: Field Marshall? My, my, my. I love a man with enthusiasm. What can you do Sargeant?

Intensely pigmented young man: I can make the drinks.

Young man in fine linen slacks: <looks at application> But it says here you are Muslim?

Intensely pigmented young man: You hear Reform Judaism?

Young man in fine linen slacks: Yes, I belive I have.

Intensely pigmented young man: Well, I am Reform Muslim.

Young man in fine linen slacks: And the beliefs are?

Intensely pigmented young man: Same as regular but Reform Muslim allowed to drink alcohol. I kept part with many wives.

Young man in fine linen slacks: Splendid! Do you have a specialty drink then?

Intensely pigmented young man: Yes Black Mamba, one part gin, one part Rose's Lime and one drop Black Mamba venom.

Young man in fine linen slacks: That sounds dangerous.
