Lingayen: The weather clears and the air attacks go in this turn. As usual, the fit hits the shan. TBF's from Batanges arrive first without their dedicated escort or the LRCAP of Corsairs from Vigan. WJD CAP is likely from San Fernando but Lingayen airstrip is still operational. Poor bastards. I hope the pilots are OK. We don't have any reserve of trained torpedo-skilled pilots. The 20 P-40K's that were supposed to escort are still having coffee in Batangas.

Finally, a nicely coordinated raid by RAAF from Batangas. WJD CAP finally had to go back for bullets and gas. Good news, the two big WJD infantry units are still at Lingayen. The sacrifices of the USMC and USN squadron pay off

What follows are 127 sorties of medium and heavy bombers from San Jose, Naga and Cagayan inflicting about 700 casualties/disablements with very few losses (just one B-25, a couple of P40's and 3-4 FAA Albacores who got excited after watching a Noel Coward film and decided to attack.
Then, the 300 Spartans landed at Thermopylae to slow down the Immortals.
