I think that sale is still going on.  The sale for 20% off planes should be over.

The Fokker Dr 1 is sweet if you don't overfly it.  I got it tonight and I was able to get in close to a dolphin a lot easier than the other planes I have tried.

Just getting back to this after a little layoff. Wife actually surprised me with a TrackIR for my birthday so hopefully it adds to the immersion. I doubt it will help me still with my poor shooting:)

Nice, Grim! Make sure that you RTFM so you get the most out of TrackIR.

It takes a little getting used to, but once acclimated, you'll wonder how you could have flown with out it!

Slick,

Defintely takes getting used to, but I can tell it will make a difference eventually. It makes it much easier to see your surroundings and be aware of things around you.

Last night the server was out and no one can fly. It was very off putting for me.

Defintely a bad thing with the server not being up. That is why it drives my crazy when people use some kind of internet connection to verify your ownership of the software. There are just too many variables they can't control to promise a 100% smoothe ride. You have software, hardware, servers, networks, communications, your ISP, human error, etc. I'm glad they will be removing the online requirement in the future. If not, I see events like this being their eventual downfall since people will not take a chance on this game.

Just won a bid for a "slightly" used TrackIR4 Pro on eBay for £70...looking forward to using it for this sim as one of the things I found difficult was keeping an eye on the enemy!

Judge,

It defintely helps. It is amazing how you can now keep track of everything around you. A different experience for sure. Makes it easier to see targets you might have missed since they were to the right or left of you, and not straight ahead. You'll like it, but it does take some getting used to:)

That really sucks with the server thing and I hope they fix it quickly... cause you should always be able to play single player without server access.... they should also add a LAN functionality, so that if people wanted to play private matches on Hamachi or something, they could

Wtg Judge! That's what I use, TrackIR4. Great stuff.

Don't forget to RTFM, and also don't hesitate to experiment with the various settings for the movement.

I know I'm going to probably sound stupid, but what does RTFM mean?

You still actively playing? I haven't played in a long time but noticed this sale myself. Might be too good to pass up.

I received an interesting email from neoqb yesterday. The most interesting part was:

As many of you have already read on the forums, 777 Studios, previously the North American publisher of Rise of Flight has acquired all rights to Rise of Flight and the neoqb brand. The neoqb brand will be gradually phased out over time and replaced by 777 Studios. This was a friendly merger and was done with an eye towards future development. We want to make it clear that there are no plans to change the core team that has created such a great product. The corporate headquarters will be located in the USA and development will continue to be located in Russia. Current development plans for ROF are still in place and the team is working hard to give you such items as multi-seat aircraft and a new Career mode. Further development plans will be announced when appropriate.

Pretty good news in my opinion.

Ended up buying all the on sale planes....just leaves one to purchase:) I'm hoping that in one of the next updates the single player campaigns are the target of the improvements and then I can try and jump back into the swing of things.

http://riseofflight.com/Blogs/post/2010/06/03/ROF-ICE.aspx

ROF:ICE DVD will contain all innovations, improvements and new game modes since the moment of first release. Moreover there will be some of the best airplanes of WWI included in the package. Four German aircraft: Fokker D.VII, Albatros D.Va, Pfalz D.IIIa, Fokker Dr.1. And four allied aircraft: Spad XIII, Nieuport 28, SE.5a, Sopwith Camel. We wanted to increase the number of flyable planes available to new users and hope more and more virtual flyers will enjoy ROF. We will have more to say about ROF:ICE in the very near future.

Also there will be two campaigns included: recently released “Hat in the Ring” which takes us through the most important combat events of the 94th squadron, mainly formed from American volunteers, and the new campaign “Du Doch Nicht”, telling us about combat experience of Ernst Udet, German Ace, second before Manfred von Richthofen by combat performance. Both campaigns are based on real facts and made with maximal historical accuracy. The official Skin-Pack featuring hundreds of historically accurate paintjobs will be also included, so you won’t have to download them.
