Read my comment again.  The "pounce" reference was to early '43.

The problem with morale is units will simply up and surrender right in the middle of combat resolution even if they vastly outnumber their opponents and are slated to win the battle. It’s a die roll, fail and they surrender no matter what, nothing you can do about it except not fight with very low morale. And in the first month, the little battalions the allies have all over the place surrender in droves due to morale in the 20s and 30s.

Jim

Jim, you made a lot of good points in your post, including this one. While the other things you point out to various degrees do also, this one in particular reflects reality to a high degree. You might make a case that the morale of certain units should be different, or that morale should be impacted differently by certain events or circumstances. However, the issue of low morale troops surrendering/retreating, from my readings over the years, seems to be spot on.

Ah, so-for all intents and purposes-irrelevant to the question posed by the OP about an early KB strike. Very well.

Something must've gotten into your craw. Don't know of any reason for the biting tone of your posts.

My comments were directed at both early '42 and early '43 and was responsive to both the original post and a subsequent post in reply.

I never said anything about a counter offensive but it means supplies and troops can be moved much more easily from the West Coast to points of strategic interest without so much worry or escort.

Must have been the imperative to read your comment again that stuck in my craw. My apologies to the OP for the unnecessary drama in his thread.
