Then there was the Korean War era Marine Reckless who eventually made Staff Sergeant:

I have sent Chinese troops on strategic road movement. They have to be in a rail hex with the appropriate road and with a LCU which can use strategic road movement. Set all to Strategic movement, then send the unit that is capable of using the strategic road movement to move to the base where you want it to go and set all to follow. The Chinese units will then use strategic road movement.

Yes. I would send the the base forces in Burma to China and used them. They would then help protect the base, build up the airfield, and be available for fighters to kill Jap bombers - usually not escorted.

I can accept the AI doing just about anything to make it better. In a PBEM against a human opponent, no.

So if there's some kind of 'bug' (and I don't know one way or the other) that allows this my comment is simple and consistent. Play the game, not the code. The use of this is definitely not WAD.

1000% in agreement here. This is why it is so important to come to an agreement as to what type of game you are both looking for before starting a PBEM. If both players are gamers just looking for a victory at all costs, have at it. If both players are looking for a semi-historical experience of the Pacific theater of WW2, then restraint is necessary when it comes to exploiting the code. If one is looking for victory at all costs and the other is looking for a semi-historical experience, then issues develop and feelings get hurt.

Well, i decided to stop disparaging the "gamers" among our crowd. If that is the experience they want...

I didn't mean it to be too disparaging.

TBH I read there's an anniversary version out of the original. Just starts a little earlier, 1941 as opposed to 1942. Was thinking about maybe getting it now before it may disappears. Could use it in a decade or so to entice (or condemn) my grandsons into the hobby. That and Risk, but I have an original of that. So original that it has wooden pieces.

I did attend a game convention at the beginning of the year that played tons of the large Axis and Allies games on the market. I get it, you can play over a weekend. I do however question some of the players' historical knowledge however. I had a guy who was telling me about the six large CV's that Japan had building in violation of the Washington Naval Treaties. All these CV's were completed in 1942. When I got home I checked my game looking for them. After a while I just gave up and figured the Dev's missed them, like so may other things.

I am sure that he will be happy with one of the many AE mods out there...
