Ok the first turn I just built supply and PP and destroyers for the Atlantic defense

this turn I started building infantry and getting it into place in England.

other than that just moving the navy around and getting it into place where i want it.

PS: I took several screen shots to put here but I cant get them to work. I did them in .jpeg format. I can do them in .gif format next time to see if that will work better.

I tried selecting embed picture in post and then uploading the pic but it didnt work. Copy and paste dosnt work either (using win 7)

if anyone can help me out here and tell me what I need to do I would appreciate it. I did it in the past but I cant remember how.

never mind I got it to work

below is the first turns production as you can see nothing fancy just the basics

ok these are for reference for Ezeto so in a few turns he can compare what I started with and what I have done.

also ezto notice that I am building Rifles in England because they are good in open areas. In India I am building SMG because they get a bonus in confined ares like cities mountians and jungles etc...

a CVI can hold just 2 its a carrier escort.
A CVII can hold 7
A CVIII can hold 9 or 10 I seldom get to make them.
A CVIIII I don't know haha

Middle east to Wavell in N. Africa
Singapore to India

or you can make a HQ in Kuwait and have middle east go to it and then let wavell be under it. This way if you need the HQ in Kuwait can be under India also and the you can get supply from India all the way to N. Africa.

We are starting to get some turns cranked out now

here is a picture of England from last round.

[image][/image]

Notice the two new HQ's 1 in the north and 1 in the south. These are for defense so if the Germans invade and cut England in two then my defense forces will still be under a HQ and still get supplies and the HQ staff Bonuses

Also I have blocked the channel to keep those sneaky U-Boats out.

Also , How much have you played Ezto ?

Is this your first time as Russia ?

February 1940.

Not much to report.
Convoy escorts engaged a small wolf-pack in the mid Atlantic, reports are that the subs escaped but may have damage. naval vessels are converging on the area to continue the search

March 1940.

The Royal and Canadian navies hunted down that wolf-pack and destroyed it but they fought well and The allies lost a division of Destroyers in the fight. But the convoy got through with the much needed supplies for England

April-May 1940

The anticipated German invasion of Western Europe has begun. German forces follow their new doctrine of Blitzkrieg warfare and overwhelm the allies on all fronts. They are knocking on the gates of Paris and the French Maginot line is almost surrounded.

Realizing that Paris cant hold the remnants of the french army fight their way to the coast and are evacuated to England.

The brave french troops of the Maginot line decide to leave their fortifications and heavy weapons and meet the enemy on the field of battle. They surprised the Germany 2nd army HQ outside of Luxembourg. In what was reported as a heroic charge the french soldiers streamed into the rear areas of the German 2nd army and fought hand to hand. Completely overrunning a Artillery division and destroying it in the process.

A french Civilian who got his family out of the area reported that he witnessed the battle said " It was magnificent! Our soldiers charged into the Germans like a hammer hitting a melon. When it was over they where all dead but there wasn't anything left of the German artillery except a few horses, wounded men and dead officers. VIVA LA FRANCE !"

In other news the German navy tried to break through the Royal Navy blockade of the channel to sink the transports that where evacuating the french army. A Spokesman for the Admiralty reported that as many as 50 German subs and some destroyers where involved. The Royal Navy forces engaged them and received air support from land and the Aircraft carriers. Most if not all German vessels where reported sunk along with several of the troops transports. But not a single Royal Navy ship was lost. One light cruiser and several destroyers where damaged and are headed into port for repairs.

here are the totals for the turn.

all in all a good turn for the west. getting that artillary unit was a lucky break . But in the last two turns we have killed 6 subs and 2 destroyers with only 1 destroyer lost.
If we can keep this up we can win the battle for the atlantic.

from France we rescued about 90 troops 1 armored car and about 70 staff and the french Airforce. this will be a big help in defending England.

May 1940.
Breaking News !!!
Winston Churchill today announced that British Engineers had made a huge breakthrough in aircraft design. The newest aircraft the "Spitfire model III" is a technological breakthrough that will insure that the skies of great Britain remain clear of enemy planes. The newest planes should start rolling off the assembly lines in June or July.

The first Lord of the Admiralty was a bit put off however. Stating : " we need that production and engineering put to use for our navy. What use is clear skies if we are all starving!"

To Ezto

ok main thing to remember is that Omsk produces Siberian units equal to the German SS units. so first turn make a HQ in Kazahn. and start building a Siberian army.

Defend Kazahn at all cost. defend Gorky second and Murmansk 3rd. In my opinion those are the three most important and easiest to defend. defend moscow if you can but dont waste resources unnecessarily. The plan is to hold what you can, then build up and retake what you lost.

The German attack will be massive and fast. It will be disheartening to you because they will roll over you so quickly.

Bleed them and slow them down all you can while building that army in Kazahn.

But remember this Sun Tzu said. " he who defends everything, defends nothing."

ezto, that was a quote you'll definetly need to remember. The Germans cross Russia at warp speed in WaW. So you'll be feeling like a real newbie when you see your men getting wiped of the map.

Just follow the advice of 82ndtrooper. I think all players who have played the Russians no matter what scenario have been astonished how hard the Germans hit in the first months of the Operation Barbarossa.

I for my part tried to hold the whole front, was crushed in a few turns. Something I try to forget, but try to remember not to do again. We all learn from mistakes but you've got a real good player sat next to you guiding you through. Plus we here on the forum will give our bit of "advice" if we may.

To ezto
a few more tips.

first turn as Russia pull all HQ's back from the front lines as far as you can. They are important and cost 3pp to rebuild plus making staff. So if you can pull them back and save them it will be a help later in the game. As Russia every PP saved is a huge help.

pull all forces back to at least hex 4 from the front lines. This will allow you to maintain your garrison and make the Germans have to move farther to kill you on the first turn of the invasion when they have the extra combat bonus.  Some people pull them all the way back to save them and let Germany have the extra PP bonus. But that's up to you.

In Sevastopol build a HQ and have all Sevastopol production going to it, its possible to make enough to defend it and hold on for a long time sometimes until relieved. If nothing else the Germans will have to allocate forces there that cant be used elsewhere. Do the same for Stalingrad and the city just south of it. You may or may not be able to hold on to these cities but if you start this first turn you will have a better chance.

Immobile flak is your friend in a besieged city. The Germans will have better planes than you so I dont bother wasting production on planes at first. Also every city needs some engineers to repair damage after an attack. It dosnt take a lot of them but keep that in mind.

that's about it for tips that I have at this time.

I move some of my Chinese units back to make a defensive line along the mountains. The town of Changsha and Wuhan will be defended. The key here appears to be to kill Japanese infantry and weaken their invasion of the pacific by tying down troops. By moving inland I give up space, but i am farther away from possible shore bombardments. The farther away from the coast the Japanese are, the more easier defending against them will be, or so I hope. I expect to be pushed back far, but at a great cost of Japanese resources.

that sounds like a solid plan.  machine guns are good for defense and motors are really good for offense, they are my favorite unit in the game.

I will send you some flying tigers for air cover as soon as I can. I wont be able to send a lot of PP and supplies to russia and china until the USA comes online though.
But let me know if you are close to an important tech up and really need some PP and ill try and send it. it cost me 24 PP to send 12pp and 2000 supply

ok last turn the Germans created Vichy France. A solid move on his part. all my forces still in France surrendered.

I spotted a lone wolf-pack off the coast of Canada and attacked it with 4 squadrons of destroyers losing 1, So i called in additional destroyers from picket duty and 3 or 4 attacks later I finally sank it.

In India My newly created engineer unit is building a road to Mandalay so I can move troops there and keep them supplied. Also producing some staff and machine guns for defense. This will look much different in a few turns as I will build a factory and more fortifications.

and last I did a bombing attack on Amsterdam and ran smack into a very well laid air trap. I lost 3 fighters and 3 level bombers OUCH. I had forgotten that I had bombed that the last turn and grumpy made me pay dearly for trying the same thing twice. well played on his part.

as you can see below not a good turn for the west. But the bright side is my kill ratio versus subs is 7 to 2. And that's the most important thing to me at this time. Its vital that I keep the Atlantic supply lanes open.
The rest of those losses are from western Europe mostly.

OK I continued to build up on my defensive line. Conscripts are coming out of the barracks like ants from an anthill. I have a question about Vietnam. This turn I had a massive amount of supplies in my HQ and I did not build that many last turn. Now that Vietnam is Japanese will this stop? Also on the Vietnam subject, can the Japanese attack me from northern Vietnam? If so I have to move back some of my troops, since I don't want to get cut off.
On the North I blew up the bridge on the vicinity to Mao HQ, so now my experienced communists sit behind a river waiting for a crossing. I am also thinking about building a road between Mao and Shek HQ to facilitate the movement of units. I will add pictures hopefully when the Japanese attack, which I dont think is going to happen yet. However he did move a stack of about 120 strength north of Wuhan...

To answer your Q about the PP's I dont think I need them that badly. Flying Tigers would sure come in handy. I have 2 on the Shek HQ, but I am afraid they will stay there until they get reinforced or the Japanese player moves his air force towards the Pacific.

once he declares war he can attack and he must take hanoi or you get extra supply and bonuses so he will fight for it if he is smart.

yes build a road you need it to keep all supply in the green. (the mountians with no road will cause you trouble keeping your troops supplied if you need extra from chunking or tai ian)
