Just a small preview for the unfinished Romulans (my favourite). I need to wait before I can upload because one of the modelers for these awesome ships has stated in the readme that I must obtain his permission first. It's not a big deal, I can find replacements, but I'd much rather use his.

Hopefully shouldn't take long, I'll give it about a week before everything can be finished.

Terran Empire is finished. It's much the same as the United Earth fleet, but I did some colouring in and changed the capital ship to TOS defiant as per Tophat1812's request.

All done now except for the Romulans. I'm waiting for permission from one of the creators as he specifically forbids anyone using his ships for anything without his permission. Unfortunately, doesn't look like he's going to respond to my request so I will have to use other ships. He actually stipulates in his readme that even if I don't get a reply, that doesn't mean I have permission. So, I have to respect his wishes.

I'll give it a couple more days, then release V1.1.

I'm going to amend some of the ships I've already done while I wait for a response from the Romulan ship modeler. I was looking through stuff from drexfiles.wordpress.com where there are some great images. Although I don't completely like the shadowed effect alot of them have, they are nice and closer to canon which is very important to me.

Here's an updated Romulan shipset preview. Had to remove 3 ships from the last one as I didn't get any response for the permission to use them. Version 1.1 imminent.

Looks sharp as always... but you do know that the more angular ship you show on this is a Klingon L-9 frigate, not a Romulan ship... FYI, if you care. I mix and match them myself.

Very well spotted, tj. It's not the first time I've broken from canon either!

I was going to use them as freighters. I'll have to look for more now. I slightly altered the images to make them look different, but obviously wasn't enough. Now that I look at them again here, they don't really fit do they?

BTW, they are Romulan ships, they're just in the wrong time!

Ok, I've redone the Romulan freighters. The L9 frigates will come in useful for the late Kirk era mod.

Here's a screen to show what I've done. Freighters and mining ships orbiting a beautiful homeworld.

FANTASTIC JOB IGARD!

(Can't wait to zap an Andorian....)

Glad you're finished.... I'll send you an AAR soon. I'm going to replace two of the Vanilla
races with Zindi Insectoid (Desert Homeworld) and Zindi Amphibian (Ocean Homeworld)

Look forward to reading that AAR, Ed.

I was thinking about doing a Xindi empire, but as a collective empire.

With only 2 shipsets left, here are the options we've got:

A Xindi shipset,

A Suliban shipset,

A general shipset (includes Tellerite, Nausicaan, etc)

Which one should I scrap?

Hello Igard!
Interesting choice....I have additional images if you need them.
The Xindi shipset should be necessary in the Archer-Era representation.
The Suliban should also be represented. A sly, high espionage, evil race. But also could
be set to be Pirates ( If the upcoming expansion will allow it)
The General shipset is probably the easiest one to do, but also to eliminate.
Maybe Aures and Woodman can give you some comments/insight also if they read this.
Again...excellent work and thanks for your efforts in the modding you do.

Thanks man. Feel free to send me anything you like, but don't be too disappointed if I don't use them because I'm extremely fussy. The only ships that I might need are the civilian ships (freighters, mining, passenger).

I got a pretty good source for race images, http://www.trekcore.com/. It has screen caps of every star trek episode. I only use images where the character is more or less looking directly at the camera and only when they have their full head and most of their shoulders in the shot.

I'm not sure if Aures and Woodman are Trek fans. They're insight/help would be useful.

Remember Igard......Picasso was "fussy" also...

I might have some freighters & passenger ships for you to peruse. I'll dig them up and
send them to you soon.

I'll certainly take a look a 'em, Ed.

As much as I give you guff about the Romulans, this edition is OUTSTANDING work.

I really appreciated the Tholians. I actually made room for that set and swapped a couple of other ships here and there on my SW set.
I like the modified Klingon Troop Transport as well, which near as I can tell is a tug version of an early D4 or maybe a D5.

Sharp as always.

You're very good at spotting this stuff, TJ. Basically, it's a result of me looking through hundreds of ships trying to find one that's suitable and eventually settling for something that's not really from the correct time period, but still looks like it could fit.

Glad you like this, but why do you replace ships all the time? Don't you use more than one theme?

I've always thought the Romulan ships were the most unique and aesthetically pleasing of the Star Trek universe. These are no exception.

Unfortunately, I couldn't use all of these ships. The original creator put a very strict ask-permission-before-you-use policy on some of them. He didn't respond to both my requests, so I had to respect that.

Generally speaking I would agree. But I think my favorite is still the Klingon D-7/D-7m -- ESPECIALLY when it has Romulan markings and birds on them. I have added that to a couple of the D-7s in Romulan Possession... I love the way Romulan Ships are often painted, and have added birds to several contributer's models.

Glad you like this, but why do you replace ships all the time? Don't you use more than one theme?

I am pretty SW centric because I am doing some writing, and this game and others like it help me to give me details for the stories. So I use SW stuff for the main elements, but the ST ships are generally so cool looking, I use them for pirates and minor races.

This sounds like an error I have encountered before.
It was caused in my case by me manually adding which empires were in my game and then later on changing my theme. This meant that I had empires in the manual selection that didn't exist anymore.

The only way I could find to fix it was to turn back on the theme I had used previously and go to that part of the screen and delete the empires, then switch theme again.

It's a very common occurance/bug. I'm able to close the error message and then click on the X to remove the other empire. It can take a while to go through them all when there's alot of them, so it's best to go back and remove them. It's good practice when switching themes to click Start a new game and then go to the other empire screen and clear the other empires before quitting back to the main menu.

You can however, load a game running a different theme. It just takes a bit longer to load as the game automatically changes theme for you. So the game knows when to change theme, it just doesn't check when starting a new game.
