HI all,

Still morning tithe.

Bouncing from hither to yon, but managed to shoehorn in a couple moving days and was in Prattville. So called TOMLABEL in Birmingham and we got together for some beers and foot long burritos. We got one of the waitresses (cutest one, imho) to take a picture with Kelley's phonecam and he's threatening to post it. If he does, don't let him lie to ya. he's the good looking one, I'm the grotty old man in the Team NZ shirt.

I've worked with Kelley for darn near two years, and it was a thrill to actually meet the man and chat. Will soon get my poopie together on the exquisite Eastern Shore of bee-you-tee-full Mobile Bay, and am planning excursions to annoy and irritate some of the rest of you; Mike, Don Bowen, Ian the Elf - people I know only through text, but want to get to know well enough so that they buy the beer. Texas and NC are just a hop, skip, and a jump from Mobile, so ya'll get the spare bedroom ready and stock up the reefer.

Ciao. John

Yes, got to finally meet John in person after all of these years! It was definitely a highlight in the AE life and personally as well! After all, it was John who called me to join the AE team and it was a very great and informative experience from Day1!!!

I must say it was fascinating and interesting to get to talk to JWE about some of the behind-the-scenes stuff concerning AE as well as our backgrounds. We were actually working with the B1-B project at Wright-Pratt (sytems project office) at the same time - same building!

Very enlightening! I appreciate him driving up from the Montgomery area to meet me for dinner Thursday night, because he then had to drive the 1.5 hours back that night and then haul all of his stuff down to his new place on the bay of Mobile (right across from BB60)! What a lucky guy!!! Hope to get to take him out on one of the annual Blue Marlin events in the spring and to hit all the great seafood restaurants!! What a blast! I'm excited that he is in my "home-town" as I will be calling him up often!

Yeah, he did manage to get one of the hot waitresses to take our pic! (John, after thinking about it, we should have told her that the pics were no good and to take some more!!!!!)

Sorry for the poor quality as it was taken from an old camera phone!

Nice!

BTW, Tom, have you canged you avatar?

My wife visited a state park about 1.5 hours away - some 22,000 acres with a large lake (not quite 35 sq. miles, or just short of 100 sq. km).

They have only a few park rangers there, and apparently they have a lot of interesting stories to tell...

One random story: the rangers stopped a pair of teenagers who were moving their boat around the lake by means of a gasoline-powered leaf-blower! When asked about this, they replied that they would have used their electric-powered leaf blower, but they couldn't find an extension cord long enough!

Here's a teaser (my new desktop background):

Boise Sunrise. With the fog and morning light this looks like a place I'd love to be. If you look very closely, you can see a deer in a clearing in the center left area of the picture (small dot, head poking above bushes, see detail). (Photo and caption by Glen Hush) #

This one made my day:

quote:

The Music Of Love. This picture was taken in Tenganan Village, Bali (2010). Tenganan is the most famous Bali Aga (original Balinese) village and is located close to Candi Dasa in East Bali. A man was playing bamboo music to entertain a disabled child which is not his son, but he loves this child likes he loves his own son. (Photo and caption by Ario Wibisono) #

This one is my favorite, but the beauty, diversity, and just plain sweetness of life, captured by real artists, is uplifting to the soul. Thank you VSWG.

You're welcome.

It's a great site to bookmark: every couple of days, a new set of high-quality image is added - no ads, no flashing banners, just a couple of dozen pictures all on one page (so no tiresome "click here for next picture"). Topics range from nature, to sports, to politics, to science...

This one was excellent, too:

End of a long day, Josh woke up at 0530 and it was my turn to get up with him today   He's just gone to bed, hopefully straight to sleep.  We had him christened today as well, he looked disappointed that the vicar wasn't going to let him splash about in the font

Congrats, Dixie. My son got schmered with about a pint of annointing oil-the water wasn't so bad by comparison.
