I learned about electricity from those train sets and racecar sets from the 60's. You had to wire them up back then, now they are plug and play

Just found out from the future Mrs. McDull that my gym FINALLY reopens on the 6th of December, three weeks later than originally advertised. Can't wait to get back to it!

G'night, y'all...

Good point, Bob.  We're all engineers here, in some fashion.  Some of us, more so than others.  Getting a feel for things is not natural.

What's this "we" stuff, boy?

We're all engineers, Gramps. Some of us, much less than others.

Mike as a former AT , you know all about AW's. Engineers design, build and fix things. AW's break things . Technically we break things and hurt people. And if there is nothing breakable around that belongs to the enemy, then we break our own stuff.

I'm sure that more than once you heard, if indeed you didn't say, the two most dangerous things in the world are a junior officer with a plan or a map, and a AW with a screw driver!

Update on Claire?

She is feeling better. Still in hospital. Not any more in delirium state.
She is bored because there is a big lack of assets in hospital, and she can't see a psy doctor when she want/feel the need.
And all the patient must stay in hospital with nothing particular to do.

Anyway, she is now able to joke, and she is thinking about some laws of work, in order to, maybe, get back to work in some weeks/month with special time to heal. So this mean i am spending time on phone/mail/myself to learn all the trick about the laws for her. What i find pretty good is that she want to heal and she take herself in acount.

No idea of when she could get out. She was thinking to ask in a few days to be allowed to get out. But i am not sure if this is wise right now (not that i would not want her back home).

For now we are expecting a snow storm at the end of the week, and i fear to be unable to visit her....but that nothing really important.

And thanks for asking

Good news Eric!

I'm sure that more than once you heard, if indeed you didn't say, the two most dangerous things in the world are a junior officer with a plan or a map, and a AW with a screw driver!

Any officer is dangerous One with a plan is worse. And one who believes they know what is happening is worse still...

But the worst ones are those who think they know why a complex piece of machinery works. Just because you know how it works, or how to make it work at any rate, does not qualify you to actually give suggestions on how to fix it We won't listen to you and we're just going to take the **** as soon as you're gone. If not sooner.

Hmmm ... maybe I should be quiet about that before I started teaching at the defense college, I served at the Armed Forces HQ J5 branch, making plans ...

headn' to Bourbon Street this weekend...brother and brother-in-laws boys weekend with UCF - Tulane Saturday then Saints - Seahawks Sunday...woop!!! note to self - one hurricane drink limit per night....bah!

There's one bar on Bourbon Street that I really like, Fritzel's. It's the only one that seems to regularly have real jazz. Have you checked that one out?

back from the Big Easy...didn't make Fritzel's, but did make the obligatory stop in Pat O'Brians...wow!...New Orleans is more dangerous than Vegas...at least in Vegas there is gambling to keep oneself occupied and not tempted by half drunk, scantily clad, gorgeous women...wow...

in my life as a junior officer, when in doubt, i just asked a chief what he would do...the look of shock from the chief that a J.O. was asking his advice was worth the minimal embarassment of asking in the first place...

A train set as a kid?  I have lots of trains now, and I'm 43.

I just don't have any place to set them up currently.

I want a train, an electric racecar set, a chemistry set, model rockets (what do you want? I am an engineer and a geek)

That would actually make a fun xmas !
