Most of us INTJ personality types are not real forthcoming with our emotions.

INTJ too, eh? Here too. There's a lot of that going around...

Yeah, there sure is a lot of it....I have a case of it, too.

A man like you as in touch with his emotions as he is? An INTJ? I had you pegged for INTS (Stuart Smalley).

USS is an edge point of the INTJ world. He's much too socially adept.

Now I'm quite certain Steve-O is not an INTJ.

You guys kill me. If I'm so "socially adept" why do I spend all my free time online with you clowns in this asylum?

I'm not sure where we belong in this bizzarre system Mike. But I am sure that it begins with "E". I don't think we're introverts, and we have real social contacts. Wives, families, and friends. And not just electronic ones!

And blow up dolls.
Not me of course.

I took that test a long time ago. I only remember the acronymn ENTJ because it reminded me of the ENTs in LOTR

I dont really remember what it was all about though. I felt it was a bit of BS tbh.

Actually I would suspect that most here who aren't INTJ are ENTJ or ENTS.

I have absolutely no clue what those acronyms stand for and what you are talking about. Care to enlighten me?

Because you all are not real.  You're actually figments of my imagination.

Shhhhhhhhh, don't tell anybody!

My mother's friends at her new church called me that when I was in college. She finally made me go to church with her once to prove to them that she actually had a son! Guess what, several people came up to me and said, "Hi, Figment!"

Apropos of nothing an xGFU once took me to mass. During the handing out of the wine and crackers I asked if they feed Jews here too. She never took me to church again.

<puts on professor glasses>

Because aside from the various negative effects of technological integration into our daily lives, there is also the positive effect of being able to select your conversation companions from the population of almost the entire globe. Whereas before one was forced to settle for the closest approximation of their own interests locally available, that same individual can now find his like-minded companions through the medium of technology.

<swiftly removes professor glasses.....throws them away>

Professor comrade Red Mouse, is it now? I'm starting to have problems keeping track of all your personae

last nite was rough....

i opted not to go the bar.....figured it would only justify one of her numerous complaint. Might as well have gone.....by the time she came home, she didn't even acknowledge my existance....in fact was on the phone and went into the bedroom and shut the door for 30+ minutes. (a first)

When she finally emerged, still nothing so i had to break the ice with a "HI!" Pretty much got mumbles the rest of the evening.

Offloaded another dozen books this morning and cleared my user accounts off one of the macbooks.

Get a USB drive and nab your files ASAP. And go have a drink. Just don't come home loopy cause she might do something rash in anger.

Take care of yourself and protect your interests, mate. Only you know what needs to be done to do those things in your situation. Ensuring your data security seems a pretty sensible approach.

...which is pseudo-scientific mumbo jumbo of the highest order. In reality Myers-Briggs makes a lot of money for consultants who, in the worst cases, teach employees how to pigeon-hole others and stereotype people.

Where it's useful is tossing away the 'assessments' and teaching people about the supposed 'types' as being different modes that people can operate in at different times and situations. Indeed, you want to change modes for different situations.

I can promise you that I don't have an E "mode" or a P "mode".

It's probably not scientific, but little in psychology is frankly. It does not 'force' one to pigeonhole. It does provide some insight into people's natural tendencies however.

It is hardly coincidental that the vast majority of people on this forum are INTJ's.

"Force" no, my point is that it is often over-sold and then misused.

agree on worst case, but best case is that managers and their reports get insight into what motivates others...e.g., waving money at people can sometimes be counter productive...what might be more effective might be public recognition...agree that people switch modes, but we all have a "central tendency" that i've found useful in dealing with bosses and reports...i've done the Myers-Briggs tests, but i found the DISC model (Dr. William Moulton Marston) to be more intuitive and useful...

Dude, why not just UPS the box (broken and all) to one of us? There's a bunch of us that know exactly what to do to recover everything.

I know your brain isn't functioning on all 12 cylinders just now, but you do have friends. And friends are there when you need them. A true friend will do all they can and not question. Being a friend means you can use us, and we won't think anything except how best to help (and be pleased that we could help a friend in need). We ain't telepathic or prescient, so you gotta express the need, but damn it, boy, there's lots of us that can do lots of things.

Please, Nik; we are here for you, so just ask. John

i know.....i'm sorry. i'm NOT running on all cylynders at the moment and i feel like i'm in a race now. I havn't even paid rent for the month and her dad is a real stickliff for this. I'm also struggling with conditions at work and the poss of resigning and going to greener pastures. There seems to be so little time. It doesn't feel like i have the luxery of gathering package material and mailing stuff.

Admitedly....the stuff i've tossed up to this point is material i havn't touched either in years or know i wont in the years to come. Havn't tossed the reference books yet. I suppose i can find room for them in the car. When this happened to my friend now in texas, he litterally just threw his dog into the car and left 98% of his worldly posessions behind. Things just happened that fast.

Nik, you really need to:

1. Get that hard drive out of that machine and send it to someone who can get the data off. I'm available and I'm sure others can do it too.
2. Pay the rent. This buys you time.
3. Get your books either in your car or in boxes and UPS'd to JWE.

Then you can depart whenever you want.
