Saw Take That and Pet Shop Boys last night. Pet Shop Boys were very good as expected

but I must say Take That put on an excellent show - Robbie Williams was superb. Could have done with a little less F-ing from Mr Williams, but I'm sure my girls have heard worse at school!

My father and I build the Nieuport 17 as our first model (diorama)... it was 1:72 and I still have it...

After that I (and at the start we) build close to 100 different 1:72 and 1:48 aircraft, 1:400 ships and 1:32 tanks... almost all of them are still with me behind glass and away from dust!

The Prius is an example of how "celebrities" can make "normal" people buy bad products. BTW, on 360 there is no Il-2 Sturmovik per se - there is only "light" version called "IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey" with much much simplified flight model and arcade style of play...

Anyway - be basic sim (1 plane for each side - full campaign and on-line) is 100% free so it is worth trying - I wholeheartedly recommend it!

As I understand it, the "demo" is the full game with 1 flyable plane for each side and all the other planes available for the computer pilots, right?

If I want more planes, I can buy them from the store, but the game is complete, yah? I assume that also means I can apply patches to the demo as I would to the full game?

The first one I ever built myself was a Hurricane, with liberal amounts of glue it was almost indestructable. The toughest model was a Matilda. It died after a banger went off inside it.

I built that set "with" Jack for a school project. His mother put the decals on. By cutting them out and glueing them on.

Hi Leo,

While the all electric cars are interesting, there is some market limitations to their practicality. So-called "range fear" (that one will run out of power whilest on the road) preclude these vehicles from being used for long-haul travel. If you look at how electrical power is generated in this country, it's still largely coal-based. So-in order to get electricity to power your car, you're subsidizing the burning of coal elsewhere to make up the electricity. Furthermore, there's a good deal (~50%?) of the eletricity lost during transmission (depends on proximity to source), so it's not as efficient as one would think.

IMO, the Hybrid is the way to go for this country for now. It's as good a transition step as any until fuel cells can be perfected or LNG automobiles are popularized.

Not hydrogen powered, Leo, but using some other method of converting kinetic energy into some stored form of potential energy that can be used to power the drive train. The most common type over here right now is converting the energy from braking into electricity and storing it in batteries that power the electric drive, while also having a gasoline engine. The Toyota Prius and Honda Insight are two very popular examples of this in the US. There are also many other models adding the technology, including small SUV's like the Ford Escape. Porsche is also adding hybrid technology options to several models. One model uses flywheels to store energy and add a good horsepower boost from electric motors on demand.

I looked a the Honda Insight a few years ago. Very small-unsuitable for inclement weather or anything dealing with child transport. IIRC, it was a gasoline-only engine. Small and fuel efficient as all getup, but not hybrid.

I'm all for the sentiment behind this, T (Hollywood=morons), but I think your example here is probably not the best one. I believe that the Prius gets >45-50MPG highway; 25-30 city. That would rate it higher than most gasoline passenger vehicles in this country.

My 2008 Honda Civic (conventional) gets combined 32 MPG; highway is probably 38 MPG. Pretty darn good. I looked into the Hybrid version at the time. It would have garnered another 10 MPG or so, but it was about $10,000 more expensive-not worth the capital outlay unless you were planning on putting 200,000 miles on the vehicle to break even.
