Post British Grand Prix tithe....

Exciting race - despite the result (Lewis + Jenson deserved much better) but my eldest enjoyed her first Grand Prix - including the fantastic Red Arrow

Yes Leo, we were seated at "Farm" just after the first corner and so could see that and the pits exit. We could also see much of the twisty section thereafter. There was a huge TV screen right in front of our stand too so that we could tell what was going on around the circuit.

The cars were not at full power where we were so the noise was enough to be impressive, but not so loud that my daughter had to resort to earplugs.

I would recommend it for the speed, the noise and the colour - if only as something else to cross off the list of things to do before you drop off this mortal coil!

Presumbly its a - relatively - short hop to Hungary from Zagreb? I went there in 1987 and saw Nigel Mansell

destroy Nelson Piquet (yet again) only for his wheel nut to fall off a few laps from the end.

This was my only visit to an Iron Curtain country pre the overthrow of the communists - and I remember being shocked at there being so little to buy in the shops

. Much of the old architecture was beuatiful though.

Me, I don't care very much. The shuttle has been a UPS truck for the ISS for years now; it stopped being interesting when the Hubble telescope was fixed.

For me, the only significance is that "UPS" just went out of business, and there is no real alternative shipping company.

Crazy busy weekend just passed. Saturday was spent having a completely new heating and AC system installed in our house, and Sunday was a trip down to the coast to pick up my son from a week of hockey/beach camp. He had a blast.

struck by a vehicle on July 4th. She was killed instantly from what i was told. Her new owner never saw the vehicle, which did not bother stopping. He found the body on the road.

A regrettable mistake on his part....but i don't blame him. He was new to animal ownership but deeply cared for Chennelle. He also could not have known of her habit of panicing if startled or hurt. Someone set off firecrackers while she was off-leash and she took off....straight into a busy road.

There's only one person i blame......besides myself of course for not being there when she needed me.

Tony was kind enough to give me back her collar and leash. Last night i brought them to the pub she loved to go too so much along with Spike for one last time. An act of closure i suppose. Life can really suck sometimes......this has not been a good year. Time for a change.

Sure there is. The Russians will be handling most of the heavy lift now. Anyone else see the delicious irony that the Russians just effectively doubled their lift prices recently? How does one say 'opportunist' in Russian, anyways?

Well, the ESA ought to be able to duplicate NASA's track record, given focus, budget and investment. I, for one, will be happy to watch them shoulder the burden of expense of doing so for the benefit of the free world.

We've done our lot for international space development for a while.
