Hi all,

BTW, Kristian, did you "jailbreak" your "iPhone 4" and "iPad 2"?

I did long long time ago and I never regreted it (ever since I had my first iPhone - "IPhone 3G")...

Also I bought about 20$ worth of unofficial apps via Cydia - I couldn't be using my phone without those!

P.S.
Jailbreaking is not illegal nor it invalidates your warranty!

No jailbreaking. Haven't found any must-have apps I can't get outside the App Store.

Ahhh... I can list you 20 out of the hat...

Really - IMHO it is much worth it!

Here is what I consider "Mush Have" (some are free - some are paid):

3G Unrestrictor (Enables full 3G usage when there is no WiFi around - I have 1 GB per month available in 3G so I use this a lot)
Activator (How to program iPhone activations)
AdBlocker (Self explaining)
AppInfo (Info about my apps)
AskToCall (No more accidental calls - you have to confirm ithe call)
Attachment for mailto (Attachments)
Backgrounder (True backgrounding of tasks)
Categories (Folder the way they should have been)
CategoriesSB (Quick access to all needed stuff from anywhere)
Compass for Maps (Adds compass to Google Maps)
ConfirmSMS (No more accidental SMS sending - now you must confirm the send)
EnhancedTabs (Tabs in Safari)
Fake Operator (Rename too long operator name - I would have to have "T-Mobile HR" on my screen - now I use just "TM")
Firewall iP (Dedice what to block with each app - upload and download)
Five-Column SpringBoard (5 icons in a column)
Icon Renamer (Rename icons)
iFile (Office)
iNoRotate (What apps to rotate and what not to rotate)
LiveClock (Actual real clock on scren instead of classic static icon)
Lock Weather Plugin for LockInfo (Native) - 1.4.0.7
LockInfo (Best of everything - the phone shows weather, time, SMS, mail etc. in lockscreen)
Mail SureSend (No more accidental mail sending - now you must confirm the send)
MailKeyboardHide (full screen view when in mail - keyboard on demand)
ManualCorrect (No more invasive autocorrect - not it only suggest and I can use it if I want)
Mobile Terminal (Terminal program that i can use to connect to my LINUX servers at work)
Multifl0w (How to switch running apps)
MultiIconMover (Move several icons at once)
NTPdate (NTPDATE - finally correct clock on iPhone via you country's NTPDATE server)
PkgBackup (backup all Cydia apps)
Recent/CallLog Delete (Delete only certain calls from cal log)
Remove Recents (Delete only certain calls from cal log)
Safari Download Manager (Download stuff via Safari)
ScreenDimmer (Decide how the screen should dim - the worst battery drain if srom screen background light)
Shrink - (Shrink icons - I have them at 95% a- and I have 5 per column)
Speed for Maps (Adds speed to Google maps)
WeatherIcon (Actual real weather on screen instead of classic static icon)
xGPS (Offline maps - decide what Google maps at what zoom level you want on your device permanently)

Well... perhaps it is because you are still newbie and discovering stuff... I have iPhone for several years now...

For example LockInfo (I have bigger weather - and SMS there - I don't use Twitter):

Yes, because that's SO much better than the standard lock screen... You'll have to do better than that, Leo...

Today is a challenging day.  All of the innocents and heros who lost their lives 10 years ago will never be forgotten.  Nor will all who have been wounded or killed after choosing to defend us in the years since.  What I can not and will not do is dwell on all of the negative aspects of this moment in history.  I will focus on all of the blessings I have in this world.  The cup is way more than half full.

Terrorism is an attempt to intimidate.  I will never let them intimidate me.  As a whole, the people of the United States of America will never be intimidated.  Today and every day, I am very proud to be an American!

You really don't find this useful and practical?!?!

Well... then... to every man each own... what can I say... tastes differ...

BTW, none of my friends ("Power Users") that tried iPhone / iPad "JailBreak" ever returned too "vanilla Apple" - I haven't read about similar experiences on Internet as well (all those who wish to use iPhone / iPad even more and better never regretted going "JailBreak" route)...

It took you full 74 seconds to read my initial list, think about it and write that you don't need anything from it!

Today is also a day of celebration amidst the solemnity. It's the full-throated primal scream that commences the NFL season. So I find myself somewhat torn between following the remembrance services and channel surfing the NFL.

I think I'll split the difference and take my daughter and wife out on a bike ride. We've had lovely weather here this week.

Enjoy the day, THREAD dudes. As most of the surviving first responders' memoirs have told us-life is fragile. Spend yours wisely.

And anger Andre. Don't forget anger. It's important to keep a small part of that anger going. It keeps us from becoming complacent, and always trying to improve our selves, our systems and our countries so this might never happen again. Anywhere.

I read somewhere that Curtis Le May (when he commanded SAC) kept a photo of the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor on his desk to remind him of the danger and costs of complacency .

9-11 should be a wakeup call. For most Members of the US military that day was Oct. 23,1983. For the civilians it was 9-11 (Although the UK,Spain,France,Germany,Japan,Italy,Israel and many other countries had already had the experience---Denmark the latest) when terrorism came calling.

So I remind our friends and compatriots it's OK to be angry (a little smoldering anger , not a mind debilitating blaze). Because anger leads to the desire to prevent, not commemorate such atrocities. Grieve for the victims. Honor the hero's. Hunt down and punish the perpetrators. And never, ever let it happen again.
