One could go the George Foreman route and name them all "George" It would certainly make intelligence difficult when one is attacked by 300 aircraft from the seemingly same carrier.

The USN has had that problem when ships have the same last name. Like Joseph P. Kennedy in service at the same time as John F. Kennedy.

i've always felt a little sorry for all the other sea creatures that missed the boat (pun intended) when naming US submarines...how about our friends the whales?

USS Blue
USS Humpback
USS Killer

and of course

USS <self censored>...use your imaginations, folks...

Well, there was a USS Whale.

I still think USS Sand Lance is the best sub name ever.

And of course Orca . Vice killer. Then you have to decide, Cachalot,Sperm or "Carpenter-fish". All the same whale.

I'm old school. I named them for old ships of the USN that had been cancelled or renamed. I particularly like USS Reprisal. I named another USS Retailiation. They are going to sail with Enterprise2. And I just might name another for a famous British ship. USS Revenge. Not that I'm annoyed with Chickenboy or anything!

Well, you may want to make sure that you paint the right word on the bow. I'd run that 'Retailiation" through a spellcheck before you waste a good bottle of champagne on it.

"Retailiation"-isn't that basically a pricing war between two retailers? You know, like when Walgreens cuts their prices and CVS "retailiates"?

So the one time I skip spell check you bust my chops? Yeah CB. That's right. I'm gonna make the cost so high it drives you out of business! I wasn't going to be using champagne (there's a war on , you know!). All my carriers get christened with Japanese blood!

Maybe I should name the ships after your carriers once I sink them (and include the date od sinking!)?

I will realy laugh hard if the true Hibiki sinks that carrier somehow.

Try Firefox. Blocks ads (with an extension) and built in spell check. Doesn't seem to help me much, but it's there

I'm afraid you don't get it.
Maybe you just google "demozid" and "katyn". I shouldn't write more about that...

Yes, I know all about that.

Mabye its just me, but I don't see your point.

What you are saying is that you shouldn't name a Carrier USS Richard Nixon because of ie. the CIA Phinex Program (26 339 Executed - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Program ).

Its defiantly comparable to what you are saying above, that you shouldn't name the Carrier Stalin because of Katyn! (21 857 Executed - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katyn_massacre )

Add 60.000.000 to Katyn, and we reach the actual data. Katyn is just worth mentioning, as there are some polish users on this forum...

But it is your game, you can call one carrier USS Adolf Hitler or USS Mao Zedong, too. It's your choice, I wouldn't "honor" any of those mass murderers...

I support the USS Richard Nixon , not because I favor or support his politics (one way or the other) , but because ships names are "modified" by their crews. How could any male (hetro) sailor not be happy serving on "The Big Dick!"?

I'm not crazy about naming ships after dictators or mass murders, but what you do in your own games, but lets not share it here. 1) because it borders on political statements. 2) because such statements are by nature designed to provoke and cause argumenst (see "trolling"). 3) it serves absolutely no useful purpose.

When the bad outweights any possible good, lets cease and desist, drop it , avoid it, call it quits and move along.

I'd love to rename some of the IJN carriers. Alas, that's not possible...
