Y'know, I'd love to see a computer port of Federation and Empire. I loved that game to death about 20 years ago, didn't realize it still had a following.

Maybe Matrix and ADB should have a chat about this...

Well, well...another F&E fan. I've had that from the day it came out along with all the updates to it and the large map. My kids and I played it over the years and a friend of mine and I played it last summer about 3 days a week during June and July up here at my place. Yea yea..one of the detractors taking me from testing, but it was a lot of fun. We're going to do it again probably come spring since he can't make it up here in the winter without a dog sled.

And if so, how the logistics level influences gameplay?

In broad terms the modifiers have the following effects:

Morale:Biggest modifier of attacking and defensive combat values.
Fort Building: Defensive combat values.
Logistics: More MPs = More attacks and bigger advances.
Transport: More ammo and fuel to support more attacks and bigger advances
Admin: As noted above- For GE Quicker re-organisation; For SU larger, better organised, army quicker.

Will there be an announcement prior to the release stating the exact date or will the game simply be available one day?

Matrix normally does give a release announcement prior to the release date. Then the exact date is mentioned also the various prices will be known. Download only, download with game shipping.

All you have to do is look on a regular basis on the Matrix Store homepage. http://www.matrixgames.com/store/
