Engineers set to work repairing the blown bridges.

Advancing German formations hamper the process.

6am 18 Sept. Groesbeek

The germans counter attack... but unfortunately there is nowhere to hide.

The result inevitable without a reasonable entry deployment.

6am 18 sept  Nijmegen bridges

Concentrated force to rush the Norther rail bridge VL

The Defenders had thought of that and my men ran right into a wall of steel.

BO didn't have the heart to carry on after casualties began to mount though.

9am 18 Sept

Helmond

We arrive either side of the river - Gemert Exit is my goal.... no easy task with panthers reported as roaming the far bank.

within 30 seconds one Panther bites the dust at the hands of my 6pdr.

within the next 5 mins I have two tanks tracked trying to climb hedges.

But the assault on the North Bridge and gamert Road looks suyccessful... especially when the Stuart takes out a second Panther

A final push gains the railway bridge.

9am 18 Sept.
Nijmegen Bridge

With only 3 VL's in axis hands a forced withdrawal is on the cards.

Two Flak guns sited on the railway line take heavy casualties from the 30cal MG's even at 650 - 700 metres.

The Axis forces routed when the crews were incapacitated.

Midnight 18/19 September

A new BG is Following through after  a risky move by the previous armoured BG to move out to Uden leaving the Exit VL in neutral control.

Concerted effort by the men of the 43 Wessex brings pleasing results.

The men show no fear assaulting the armour and isolating the enemy forward positions by swift encirclement.

XXX corps now have two clear paths North

De Geeleders

The 43rd wessex have spread wide across the front

here is the final push on De Geelders

The germans have dug in with well prepared positions.

They must be weedled out one team at a time.
