Going to lose those pocket troops soon but this turn they should tie-up his forces and inhibit pursuit. One thing moses does is push on after me and i kinda hope he does so here as well,i might have a surprise for him.

This is not so pretty but its time for us to leave and maintain frontal integrity. Staying too long just lets the Hun's pocket and eliminate my boys wholesale!

Try a bit more of a forward checkerboard in the AGN area, it buys you time. Try to make sure that whenever you place a line somewhere, there's a unit not 1 but 2 hexes behind it, so there's a ZOC protecting the hex in between them. The Germans can overrun a double line, but placing it like that economizes on manpower whilst making it more difficult to overrun.

I wished him good luck too, sportsmanship is part of the wargaming experience. Well, it should be anyway.

I shall try,but I fully expect a serious butt kicking from moses before the tide turns. He may be wintering in Moscow, though he'll probably get only as much joy as Napoleon did.

Seems the Finn's will be helping me on my way out of the country. My rifle division didn't hold up as well as I'd hoped, but such is life.

Still having some brief respite here, though the Pskov front may be a shambles. We did or start to dig as the case may be! I am reading the manual about mobilizing the citizenry to DIG!!!! I need fortifications and I need them in 3 turns time.

Yes indeed the Pskov area is becoming a nasty neighborhood. This is my first look as I take screen shots and ramble a bit. I need to get creative with a line here, luckily geography will help me out some.

Another turn or weeks time and another pocket forms it seems. Very disquieting,so it is 1 division to a hex with corps/army Hq's 2 hexes back. We shall see if i can do it as easy as write it.

Gomel and marshes area of operations. I need to close up the line, straighten and generate some divisions for fallback positions.

This isn't for the faint of heart. My stubbornness with defending forward too long has come to more or less a conclusion. Yes,this is the 6th week of operations but its time to run, find a river and get behind it 7 DIG!

Ugly is the watch word for this sector. He taunts me with an opportunity to relieve the pocket, but no,that chance I cannot take. Hmmn.or can I?

your doing better than I am. Smolensk fell and I am rather short of troops directly in front of moscow at the moment:-)

What turn are you on Miller? And just remember there is no way you can loose in 41' nor can he win in 41'.

But i feel you, believe me...... cause I feel it too.

Indeed BLurking, doing the German first move is a brain bender. But as all good things that turn is coming. Moses gave me a mess to wade through and you have me redoing search grids in the pacific!

Lake Ilmen is always a good place to use as part of a defensive line, though it's often a problem where you place units to the east or southeast of it ( no rail line in a good place ).

Some of AGS's mobile units REALLY need a break, or they'll break themselves in a few turns.

Units that were pocketed i used in attacks at the pocket guards moses set in place. I picked on his Slovakian boys and a regimental team he'd broken a division down to. The pocketed troops are going to be a loss to me anyway, might as well take some FASCISTS with me!

I'd like to start seeing defensive lines built in front of Moscow - you have the opportunity to start digging in now, so you should take it (if you have the men available).

Red Army situation on the Northern Front after my turn 6 movements:

Remember all comments welcome, even the unpleasant ones.

The Plan is to pull back to the Finnish "NO GO LINE"....outpost and fortify that and free up the divisions for service defending Leningrad. Primary objective is to keep a supply-line open to Leningrad.

I have removed some of the 32 capacity KV-1 production from Leningrad and moved it to Sverdlosk. Same with heavy Industry, armaments and BA-10,T-50 production.
