AGC around Moscow. The first area where any real fighting has taken plase. I am tring to get to moscow before snow, but the Russians are putting up a first class fight. Moscow is not a must, but I try to take it. I am very happy with all the industry I have already destroyied or caused him to move. My tank numbers are kinda low, but it really dont matter. I have had less and they all get replaced by next summer with better tanks. Kinda why I throw caution to the wind and drive as hard and fast as I can for the first 10 turns.

Infantry tows are amazing high allong the front other then the 9th Army. I will turn off all replasements during 2 mud turns other then them and this should solve that problem. The high infantry tows is generally a side effect of the panzer spearheads, which really makes a big difference during blizzard fighting.

This area will need some TLC soon.

AGC south of Moscow.

Basicly just setting up winter lines. I did get a small pocket east of Kursk for some fun.

AGS Digging in basicly. He did a nice job keeping me out of Crimea, I make a solid push during winter and try to clear it out next Summer. No real reason to waste units now down there.

I am closely following T vs Q-balls game and this one.

The differences so far between the 2 are.

Tarhunnas has done better in the center, destoryed more units and factorys.
I have done better in the south and destoryed more AP and HVY units. I beleive my loses are less then his also.

Tarhunnas has destoryed

51 Armaments only 14%
29 Heavy Industry 13%

I have destoryed

141 Armaments 38%
58 Heavy Industry 25%

We both advanced about at the same speed in the north and center. I advanced much faster in the south. He bagged Moscow and I didn't.

Be interesating to see how both play out to see whats more important.

He will have gotten the bigger rail cap hit on the Russians as well from sacking Moscow. I wonder how the Russians stand on manpower production between the two games as well?

I also think you are in better shape going into mud with your lines. Tarhunnas has some major issues to deal with around the Crimea where you have the Russians backed into the bottlenecks.

Yes I be very interested in the manpower also. Judging from past games when i take Moscow like vs Larry his manpower was down to 2440.

So I guess that in this game the manpower is about 2600, which is still good. Anything under 2700 I would consider good and under 2500 great.

I try very hard to have striaght lines for the winter and L3 forts atleast. It looks like I have allot of reserver divisions this game so expect zero breakthoughs.

I am guessing the loss of 140ish AP and the HVY pts is really going to put a hurting on his units as far as CV's goes. It has in my past games I am guessing it be no different for this one.

He saved allot of his factories and some of his HVY, but ignored his aps totally. I thk as the russian player you need to keep a balance.

Yes what T did around Moscow was very good. Put my attack to shame

AGC pulled back from Moscow. I figured there was just no point in tring to take it.

Digging in several lines thick, hes got his best units in area so I make sure defences are more then rdy for winter in center.

Ah, good, someone is counting . There are 7 AP and 7 HI locked in Stalino and Makeevka too, did you count them in?

You are way ahead of what I accomplished in the industry department. I think the Sovs in your game will have a hard time to recover from that.

Tarhunnas I took my time and carefully counted in my game and yours I beleive doesn't count them (7 and 7) per Q. I have been counting in all my games to date. I am not sure what counts as a win if I ever get a game to go into 1944ish.

I am interested to see how things play out seeing both games are taking a little different story line. Are factories more important then AP's and Hvy?

I have way less kills, because Arstavidios ran everyways other then in front of Moscow. I accomplished all my goals then some as far as ap's goes. You really did very good taking Moscow, you did much better in the center then I did.

The big question is Tarhunnas what is enough to put a hurting on the russian player to the point they cant fully recover? I am guessing 120ish or mybee as low as 100. I been able to reach 120ish in all of my games so far and every winter has been easy. I am about to hit 1942 summer verves Hoooper. Hes a very good player and held on to Moscow like Arstavidios, but only lost in the 120 range.

Mynok I do the 3 reg's thick until the first blizzard turn then I do 2 and 1 for 2 or 3 turns. The reason I go 3 deep is I have 3 deep of level 3 forts so I can fall back if needed. So far its worked great even vs Hoooper. Most times I am still in the last line of level 3 forts by Jan.

Turn 26 before moves.

AGN

This is winter number 5 for me.
Last turn losses were about 77k ( counts Atrrition) he lost 68k. There was 35 hexs attacked and many had more then one. Looks like for every man I lost he lost 2.5.

I have an exact number for the next few turns.

Least amount of men lost todate on the first turn of winter.

I have for the first time moved allot of Infantry and Tank divisions to Germany. I think I have a good feel for what I need to have at front from my last 4 winters. I am basing this on his and my losses and what industry I was able to tank and the player I am playing againsts play style.

A good test to see if I am right or wrong.

Why do you move your Army Group HQs so close to the front?

They have a humongous contact range.

because of the fort 5/5/5 rule.

The forts I am told build faster.

Not sure if that true or not. Does it matter if they are close or not? I got no idea.

Like I been saying I am ignorant of allot about this game other then getting 100% out of MP's and Hq's.

Planes? Yes I put them near front is about all I know about them heheh.

I agree with your airbase usage. Not sure about those AG HQs but I'll listen to anything you've seen that supports your position. Let us know. We're all still learning this beast.

End of Turn 26

27 SHC attacks: 22 wins and 5 losses

Losses
GHC 102K about 25k from attacks and 75k from General Winter. Total Blizzard losses so far 175,000.
SHC 50k

Not sure why he waste attacking when he gets 3x the deaths for doing nothing.

Lines are looking fine no real threats yet. Most of line is in the 2nd line of level 3 forts.

Having same problem I had in one other game vs Cyclops my man power pool is at 370000 and growing. Any ideas on why?

I know it be really great come spring, but could use the manpower at front.

How's armaments? That's what turns manpower into useful things.

I have been seeing tendencies of the same thing now in my two games, plenty of men but no rifles. See: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2838922. I am apprehensive about this because in my first 1942 campaign, my army basically fell apart in the autumn of 1943 because of an armaments problem that is now supposedly fixed. See: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=2739973&go=last for the AAR.

End of Turn 27

39 SHC attacks: 33 wins and 6 losses

Losses
GHC 117K about 34k from attacks and 70k from General Winter.
SHC 61k

Ok the Armaments bug is back or something like it again my manpower pool has jumped up from 270k to 320k to 370k the last 3 turns. Like I explianed with my game vs Cyclops the pool was over 1 million by March 1st.

This game will be on hold until this bug has been addressed

I have lost 300k troops and none have been replaced for the last 3 turns.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but until someone explains why this is going on I will have to put this game on hold at this turn.

Did you check the levels of equipment in the pool? When I encountered this before, it just seemed the case that my army's total ability to accept reinforcements (about 250k a turn) couldn't keep up with the rate that blizzard attrition was dumping manpower and equipment back in Germany. Distance to railhead limits how many reinforcements a division can receive each turn, but there seems to be no corresponding limit to what gets sent back to the pool.
