KB maybe in the Banda Sea
SMKB IO and Banda Sea

Banda Sea I see 6 Jap TFs.  2 TFs consists of 3 ships (ASW?).  1 TF has 54 fighters and 94 bombers.  3 other TFs report BBs, CAs, and CLs.  I am assuming that one of these might be the KB.  I have got reports that atleast an IR is prepping for Ambon.  I have what looks like an amphib TF at Soerabaja.  I still hold a small islan south of it with in A24 range that has supplies.  I broke a sqd down and hopefully they fly and strike this TF next turn.  Subs have been ordered to patrol infront of the Jap TFs.  SMKB off NW Oz coast is gone again.

7 different sub attacks on this turn.  4 of them on the surface.  I lose an xAP and 3 AKLs. We sink an xAP in northern Japan but miss another one.  One of our subs gets hammered, should make it back to base.  Our DDs miss one of theres again.

Hopefully our CV TF will be within range of Sapparo tom and will find some targets.  If not I know there is a TF along the Kurlies.  Our CV TF has not been spotted yet.

Changsha
Massive air raid.  The Chinese are good at repairing there AFs.  CAP is ordered tom.

EDIT
Our CV TF is only 18 hexs from Tokyo. Should I go for broke and go for it?

What do you suspect the little yellow men have there? Man, I have'ent been paying attention! I would not want to be responsible for this guess, but I wish you well. Since your already there.....This is not going to release some massive reserve pool is it? Kamikazis? I have no idea what the war has in store for you. We need ALFRED!!

Zulu, I don't know what he has at Tokyo.  I am now 9 hexs away without being spotted, but I have spotted a TF near Sapparo with intel saying 3 tankers and other ships.  Also another TF unknown compostion close by.  I can hit Tokyo or I can cut north and hit both these TFs.  What do I do.

Help or adivse here would be appreciated.

Ok, this is my line of thinking.  I dont know what is at Tokyo.  I do know that Sapparo produces oil as does the surrounding bases.  So he prob does have TKs.  I have seen them here before. Tankers are very important to the Japs.  I doubt he has Carriers or anything upgrading at Tokyo (Juno is the only one that should be doing this).  I think I will go after the tankers.  Still time to voice your opinons.

One thing you have is a really good feel of the map, which the peanut gallery does not. The other problem I have is that I am reading the other AAR and thus it is really hard to provide any feedback. But I can say your logic is quite sound for scenario #1 given my limited experince with the game. Smacking his tankers has reallly really long term effects beyond late 43 where the floating airbases lose value .. the value of the tankers are well into late '44 and sinking say 5 big ones is devasting. At least my adversary thinks so Plus you will force the IJ to think about another raid .. a force multiplier in itself .. just be ready for SCLS

I would have to concur with Aces on the tankers, he is also correct in his assumption I have little knowledge of the HIs industry. I find it hard to believe you could sneak up on the HI without being spotted by the larger float planes or at least some sort of picket line. I have employed a picket line off the west coast which is picking subs out at 400nm on occasion. I concede some are small merchantmen and I,m not sure as to the historical accuracy involved, but desperate times call for desperate measures. With one operational fleet carrier, I can't risk having it sunk in drydock. I look forward to your decision.

CVTF near Japan. Order set to head north to Sapparo. I was thinking that I could of hit Tokyo tom then move north to Sapparo and hit both port and naval. But I don't want to risk it. SAG will try and engage the unknown TF.

I would suspect he is aware of US naval aviators operating in home waters by your spots on his TFs?

Timor region. I know carriers are in this area prob in the big gaggle of ships. I am taking a chance here. He does not know that I have a CV down here. I have let him recon them up in India. I hope this is a BB TF only, with no CAP.

Because of the intensly interesting nature of the situation, I had to peek at the other AAR and must remain silent until after the Op. Good attention to detail.

Watch out for the Yokusuka airgroups. If he's not taken out the pilots this is a strong anti-naval force that could definitely take out a CV or two.

Captain Cruft, I'm hoping that he has them on training.  Once he finds out that I am there, I want to be heading out into the ocean as fast as I can.

Thanks for posting Crackaces and Captain Cruft

This game is at a very very intresting stage. Japan is losing the offensive inititive whether they sanely arrange a defense that takes some time to do ...or are forced to by some disaster ... will determine the outcome. Your raid I suspect will have the same affect is RL ...impetuousness. ..

No turn, but he did send the combat replay.  Interesting replay.  For one i didnt get any combat text at the end of any of the combat scenes.  Our raid only went after AKs.  Formidable got hit by some kates from MKB.  several 250kg bombs hit her.  Don't know the damage.

13th May

KB Banda Sea?
MKB Banda Sea?

Raid on Japan
We hit 7 xAKs, 2 SCs and 1 PB.  Disappointing.

Timor region
Formidable is hit by 9 250kg bombs.  Not much damage, making full speed to Darwin and hoping for air cover along the way.

Prome
Captured by Japs they attack the retreating Burmese Div and other assorted units.

Not much more on that.  Next turn combat replay shows a Bloody day. more later

So the 14th.  From what I saw and this is again without combat summaries off.  I think I lost the Formidable.  She put up a fight.  I also think that I gutted the KBs air arm.  Off hand guesstimates 30 to 40 zeros shot down 20-30 of each kates and vals shot down.  Koniu has landed on Koepang and 2 other islands in the Banda Sea.  BB Mutuso (sp) takes a fish near Marcus island.

I am hoping that I did tear the KB a new Arsehole.  That will open up a chance for me to start bombing his ships at Koepang and the other Islands.  I bet Koniu is taking the KB and other ships out of the area.  Koniu will take Koepang next turn if he wants,  But I will be able to take it back when I want.  I have almost 3 Divs moving into or in the area now.  More when I get the turn.

updating the 14th

Battle of Northern Oz

My count by rewatching the replay.
Zeros shot down 20 with 20 damaged
Kates shot down 34
Vals shot down 19

Computer says
Zeros lost 25
Kates lost 50
Vals lost 27

total air loses
Allies 36  Japs 87 by computer
This counts for other air missions.  We did extremely well.  Almost half of the loses were in Burma.

Formidable is still floating barely  57/95/22/9

Its time to go on the air offensive in Timor AO.  I will sweep Koepang and nav and ground bomb.

Im pretty sure those company sized Ausiee units are not para capable even tho they are listed as a para-commando unit type. Only actual para capable units can be airdropped You're getting the message because the game engine is converting your air drop to an air transport because the units are not air droppable.
