Ok guys.  Me an Koniu were just talking about our Night bombing HR's.  We have it as no mor than 3 night attacks in a week this was before the patch.  I accidently violated that last turn and actually scored some hits.  He is open to changing it.  From what I see now night bombing seems kinda right ops loses go up don't hit much.  What do you all think.

The night bombing requires some skill to corrdinate and plan so I have no HR agasint it in my game. Moonlight is a very important factor .. most raids come in uncoordinated and this increases the effectiveness of flak while cutting down the effectiveness of bombing.

Hankow
P38s sweep and they shoot down 2 Oscar Ia.  P38s will stand down and rest P40Es will sweep tomorrow.  Number of fighters went down to 28 from 100.

Henyang
We bomb the Jap units in the open hex just south.  337 KIA's have been reported.  Not bad for just 2 squadrons.

Mandalay
We are planning a raid to finish off the cont unit here.

North Oz
Pulling units out.

Marshall Islands
Wojte falls.  We now have control of 2 atolls.  Koniu stated that this operation caught him with his pants down.  We are now moving the assualt units off the atolls and moving in the follow on forces.  Lots of targets now.  LBA fighers are on both islands.  Carriers will move back to provide some safe distance incase the KB arrives.

Intel has 2 units on board ships moving to Tarawa, and Tabiteuea.  I am moving small TFs into the area.  I have one CL SAG right in the middle of it all, they were spotted today.  They will move deeper with hopes Koniu won't expect this.  Other SAGs are moving into the area to hit the TFs when they reach their destinations.  Nav search archs should spot them.

Shanghai
We hit the port and nail 2 xAKs both left with heavy damage and heavy fires.  Lost 2 2E bombers to flak.

Akyab
Japs have now moved away from our forces.

Mandalay
We hit the const unit but do mod damage.

Ambon
Japs nav bombard.

Marshall Islands
Our CL SAG meets a Jap DD SAG.  CL Nashville takes a couple of hits and a TT, mod damage, she should be able to make Ndeni.  Unless something attacks them.  I have P38s flying LRCAP.  2 Jap DDs were left with heavy fires.  I hope they both sink, but they are close to several bases.

Wotje and Maoleolap
Most of the 2nd wave is on the island.  Still trying to get the assualt wave off.  I think I will be overstacked with all the 2nd wave units.  We will wait and see.

Planning our next operation.

I overstack the intial invasion always .. it is an advantage to the attacker. I just bring along extra supply and I am ready to absorb the 1 disruption per turn penality [plus the double supply penality] I am also ready with the engineers to build up the ports to get the stuff back off the Island quickly ..

I did bring extra supply.  I guess I can't count.  I am over by 3k.  I thought I was going to be closer to the stacking limit than that.

Koniu will be busy watching the Polish soccer team play tomorrow.  In honor of Koniu I wish them the best and good luck.  He might not be able to do a turn tomorrow, so I will take my time.

China
I am going to be sending some Hurri IIc's into China.  Hopefully they will be able to sweep some bases and destroy the Oscars here.  P38s are not good here because of there high maintence values.  I will rotate in and out 2E bombers to take shots at the Japs.

Marshall Islands
Starting to wind down the operational tempo here.  Canadian fighters are being moved down here.  2Es will make appearances from time to time.

I am probing his nav search archs, to see where I can raid.   I am now going to see what fighters are best to challenge his.  IE China has mostly Oscars,  I want to see what will deal with them other areas have Zeros or a mixture.

China
Hurri IIc's are moving into the area. Can't wait for P 40K's to show up next month. I'm expecting Koniu to advance on Changsha area oe move towards the south east of China. His aeral bombing is decimating my Chinese LCU's.

Oscars and Tojos sweep the base.  Hurri's IIb, IIc, and Mohawks scramble to get up to alt.  The Japs lose 16 Oscars and 7 Tojos to our 11 Hurri IIb, 3 Hurri IIc, and 2 Mohawks.  The Tojos slaughtered the IIbs at 20k.  I think its about time to dust off the 4E's.  Once the P38s are done repairing, they will sweep Rangoon.  Then the 4E's will go in and do their thing.

South China Sea
We miss a big Jap tanker.  I am hopeing to have more sighting and maybe some hits.  I have moved 4 subs into this area.

Our small SAG destroys an xAKL.

My thoughts

China
I am thinking of moving some British squadrons into China.  These would be some of the older planes (Hurri IIb, Mohawks etc).  My thinking is that they can handle the Oscars that are currently in this AO.  I would pull out some American P 40E and P 39 squadrons.  Not saying these are better planes, but I get more of them.

Koniu has not been CAPing bases in China.  I have been sweeping some of his bases with no oppostion.  Can't really blame him.  I can't bomb to much or I will use up all my supply.  So every now and then bomber will make an appearance.

I don't know where he's going to attack next.  Luichow, Nanning or the Changsha area.  I have forts up to 4 in just about all my bases and as much AV and I can in each base.  I am trying to scrap up a reaction force.  I don't see much going on around Sian area.  I see that he is prepping for it but has a long way to go.  I know most of his IDs are down south close to Luichow and Changsha areas.

Burma
Bidding our time.  Waiting for more troops and planes.  Not sure were going to get more planes but need some more ground troops.

P38s are repairing.  When they are mission ready they will fly againist Rangoon.  Once we have swept the skys some 4E's will come in and hopefully catch some Tojo's on the ground.

BB's are moving to bombard the stack of LCU's south of Akyab.  I know that this can draw out his fighters and bombers.  But escorts get chewed up by CAP.  I have good exp and skilled pilots at Akyab.

Ambon AO
Waiting.

Solomons
Will do small raids.  I think Koniu is or was expecting me to advance through here.  I might make a move later on PM but I am thinking of moving on Miline Bay and Tagula Island.  Koniu has built up the AF at the later.  This would block most supply to PM.  I might get lucky and he would withdraw from PM.

Marshalls
Makin is still in Ailled hands but unoccupied.  I am planning on putting troops here. Building up the AF so I can put pressure on Tarawa and Tabiteuea.  My problem is.  I have 2 carriers that need yard time from TT's and the other 2 need their 7/42 upgrades.  I also want to use some BB's to bombard these two bases and see if I can destroy some AC and damage the AF's.  Another problem is I don't know where the KB or MKB is at this moment.  They could be in the yards for their upgrades.  I can get some ships behind Makin to act as screens.

NorPac
Waiting.  I think that the intell of him prepping units up here might be a ruse.  But I will leave what I have here untill I know for sure.

Any thoughts or suggestions they are welcomed

Oscars sweep the hex next to it.  11 of them are lost compared to 5 P40Es and another 5 P40Bs.

Akyab
Tojos sweep, 3 are lost.  We lose 3 Hurri IIc's and 4 Mohawks.  Will have to think of a way to defeat the Tojo.  P38s are still not ready.

Tarawa
Our CL SAG runs into 2 DD Jap TF.  We swap DD shells.

Maleolap
RO boat hits a mine.  Heavy damage reported.  No sinking sounds.

Roi Naumur
103 Fighters sighted on recon.  Might have to do a bombardment run.

PH
Subs are covering most of my ships return paths.  I am rerouting them around where the subs are spotted.

Intel says more troops are headed to Tabiteuea and Onotoa.  Surface forces will patrol in the vicinity.

China
We hit a mixed BDE of infantry in the open 67 reported KIA.

Rangoon
We hit the AFs at night and during the day.  Results are below.  Another raid will happen tomorrow.

Roi Namur
2E's hit the AF during the day.  Results below.  2E's fly back to PH

Bombing results for the 2 raids

Jap
33 Helen's, 11 Dinah, 7 Mavis, 5 Tojo, 1 Oscar and 1 A6m3.  We lose nothing.  Rangoon has 49 bomb holes as Roi Namur has 20.

Akyab
Japs bomb the AF 6 Hudson IIIa's are lost.

Chang Mai
A night raid is orders by 4E's and 2E's.

Java
My raiding AMC's are spoted before they could reach Merak.  They will turn back and wait for another day.

Wotje
AF bombed by a group of Helens.  We lose 2 P40E's.

Tarawa and Tabiteuea
I see mulitiple TFs with SAGS present leaveing or going to the mentioned islands.  I don't know if he is reinforceing or withdrawing these troops.

PH
Jap sub sinks an xAK.

Plans

Burma
Rangoon and Chang Mai will be bombed.  I want to keep the Tojos away from my major bases.  Rangoon and Chang Mai are 8 hexs away from Akyab.  I want to force him back or to come closer to my bases.  Yes, closer if he does I can project more power than he can.  He hasn't built up that many bases in the middle of Burma.  Naval bombardment forces is 2 days out from its target hex south of Akyab.

China
Bombers will attack a different target tomorrow.  Wondering where he is sending all those LCU's that were at Kukong?

Marshall Islands
Setting up a naval bombardment TF at PH.  It might need a day or so to lower some of the sys damage on the BBs.  Roi Namur has almost 200 planes stationed there.  Prime target for a BB run. I am thinking of pulling out my AC.  Letting the grunts take repeated air attacks dosen't set well with me but I need to keep my planes also.

Since I have time, I figured I throw up a map and my thoughts.

Both jungle roads are covered by stout Japanese forces. The open terrain is lightly defended.

Hankow
Our sweeps don't do as well as planned.  2 squadrons of Lancers and 1 of Hurri IIc's go into hostile airspace.  8 Lancers and  7 Hurri's are lost for 9 Oscars.  In the replay I saw more Oscars go down.

Rangoon
AF is hit again with reports that the runway is closed down today.  No fighter opposition.  Chang Mai has the fighters now.  Will rest the bombers and fighters.

Akyab
Jap sub is spotted one hex away.  Our BB bombardment force is in postion and will move to attack.  I have sent an ASW force ahead of it to find the sub.

Tabiteuea
S 32 hits another xAK. Lots of ships sighted here.

Wojte
Helens attack unescorted.  P40's from Maleolap on a training mission intercept them and take out 16 of the 34 attacking planes.

PH
Jap sub launches a TT at a DD escorting my bombardment TF heading to Roi Namur.  Only the Colorado is spotted in the TF.

I think there are 3 different indications of possible kills. The flaming burst in the annimation is a sure kill and I am thinking an indication of WIA/KIA or some probablity of this occuring. Then there is the "XYZ spun away on fire" I am seeing a pattern of these being counted as kills in the O'club stats. I think these pilots survive and go though the capture/escape algorithum. Then there is the hidden but every present penality of extended range and flying a damaged aircraft back home. In the inknown section you see your "XYZ dmaged aircraft shot down on return leg.."

I am not one to count kills specfically as a measure of success but rather I try to keep focused on the overall plan and projecting force. But you can keep these pace and strain the plane/pilot pool over time.

I agree with your thoughts.

Chang Mai
P38s run into som Tojo's and Oscars.  9 Tojo's and 4 Oscars are reported as lost.  14 P38 E's and F's are lost.  This hurts.  I don't have many good fighters in the pools.  I was hopeing for a better exchange.  Atleast I am making Koniu CAP his bases now.  That is a plus.

Rangoon
We hit his AF again today.  I thought I had stood down my 4E's.  Mauraders attack and sink an SC.

Akyab
Naval bombardment TF made it to the hex but didn't attack during the nite I guess they will do it tomorrow.

Tabiteuea
S 32 sinks another xAK.  Another S boat is now patroling in this area.

Plans

China
We will bomb some Jap troops in the open.

Burma
Naval bombardment.  2E's will attack Chang Mai at night.

Prepareing for future ops.
