30 May 1945 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SUBS: A few more subs sunk, this time in the port at Moppo. Tomorrow most Es will hang back and get more DCs. KOREA: The KB moves in for a shot at 8 hexes but the Allies move out of range. No worries. We'll sit and wait. If he wants to land more at Moppo, the KB will be ready. Currently it's just nice that the base is closed and I don't have to worry about the addition of 250-300 top notch defensive fighters there. Some supply is moving through Southern Korea. That is good. The North is less supplied, but not critical yet (by 45 standards anyway). STRAT BOMBING: None except the 2E that got creamed. HOME ISLANDS: Holy CAP again! This time at night. About 38 2E coming to hit Kumamoto industry don't make it back. That is significant. NF improve and the CAP settings are apparently right on for this kind of strike, coming in at 12k. RECON: Still a lot of recon flying around Northern Korea. More on the industrial cities of Honshu. They'll likely notice some with increased fighter protection, others with none, but now I've learned a bit more about some settings options. The coverage should be better from surrounding bases. I hope. CHINA: Bombing of ground forces is taking it's toll even in +2 terrain. Surprised how much is getting disabled here at Psingyiang. The Allied 2Es en masse are just as tough as the 4Es. DEI: Some surprises next turn. Just for fun. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR May 30, 45 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TF 10 encounters mine field at Shimonoseki (104,57) Japanese Ships AM Wa 102 ML G-625 49 mines cleared -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night Air attack on Kumamoto , at 102,59 Weather in hex: Partial cloud Raid detected at 79 NM, estimated altitude 16,000 feet. Most have a few 70-80exp pilots with a bunch that were trained to 50exp 70air. They've been getting progressively better, most in the 60exp area now, but this threw a bunch of pilots into the 70s. Only about 10 NF were lost, and only a few pilots KIA/WIA.
