That repair time for the Musahi seems awfully long. Perhaps because the shipyard is over-loaded? Also what size port is Nagasaki?

Nagasaki is almost at 9 finally, so that might go down once it gets to the top. I think those ships are the longest repair times in game, actually. Pretty standard. Nagasaki has a good amount of Nav Support and those are the only ships in the yard, so the Musashi is the only one using points.

I've got the two CVs in Hiroshima/Kure because it's the biggest and the Combined fleet there should speed things. Yokohama is used for most repairs and the Hyuga is there now with the Hiyo on it's way once I clear out the subs in the path near the PI.

Here are some more tracker shots. As shown here we' re still chugging along for the time being. The recent CV battles and temporary reduction of the US fleet makes me have some hope that the DEI will be accessible for another 2-3 months. If so we'd be in reasonable shape to keep producing HI in the Home Islands through mid-45. That would be outstanding. If not, and I'm operating under the assumption he'll move quickly to shut it all off, then I'll hope for overland transport to finally work and attempt to sneak through what I can while going to severe austerity mode.

It's interesting how Jocke's main goal was getting to Mindanao. I understand his satisfaction with that, but from a Japanese perspective he gifted us another 3-6 weeks of production and use of the fleet by not going directly for Borneo. Miri and Balikpapan are still producing and ships are filling up and leaving daily.

I've decided to begin full evacuation of the deeper DEI. divisions and brigades on Sumatra, Java and Malaya wil begin to evacuate and garrison units and Naval Guards will be left to delay any attempts to fill in the voids once he discovers this is happening. The air HQs will remain as well so he can't simply pick up anything on the cheap. his CVs will have to be involved.

Indochina, Taiwan and Luzon are the primary destinations for LCUs right now, with some also heading to the Ryukus. Forts are nearing completion in the most critical areas but smaller bases still need work. Construction units and base forces fro mthe South DEI will be particularly useful and will be transported back immediately. The whole Indochina coastline and Luzon should have base forces in 2-3 weeks. Luzon has two divisions and some brigades now with 3 more divisions about 2-4 weeks away.

This shows our use of fuel for shipping down, which is good.

Another thing I haven't yet mentioned is the Burma evacuation plan. The block at 55, 51 is being slowly brought back. The divisions will stay to the last day there, but the arty is moving back 3-4 units a day. On the Toungoo side the Allies are still marching across jungle. I'll remain here until they begin to arrive at their destination. The troops there now will fall back to the hex just behind Toungoo. In about a week I'll strat everything back suddenly to Moulmein.

More on this with maps soon.

NAVAL LOSSES
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Here are the totals for each side so far. I anticipate a few more CVEs and maybe a CVL or two in the Allied losses soon. Just as importantly the Bunker Hill is out for an extended period and the Intrepid may need some patching up.

If my calculations are correct we might just have more subs then the Allies right now. He's lost 117 according to this, and we have 67 in action.

Most of my subs are now getting radar upgrades which means the bigger Glen-carrying subs lose their planes. I suppose this is good, although it feels strange. I'm not sure I like it. I will increase the size of all of those independent groups now and make them kami training units for low naval bombing.

I wonder if Jocke is thinking about the kami activation line? I hope not.

20 August 1944
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SUBS: No subs managed to break into the Allied fleet to get to damaged ships. Lost the I-10 near Talaud going for a supply convoy. The SS Cabrilla is nailed as it goes for the KB.

STRAT BOMBING: B-29s take out the HI at Saigon. In one night. All 50 factories. Pretty good targeting. I'm sure all of the factories are in one part of town and with 10% moonlight and heavy thunderstorms it should be an easy night to target those. Maybe another one of these for good measure.

PI: Jocke slams Davao with two BB bombardments and the place is wrecked. A few groups might be lost here. No night flights managed to hit anything vital, although a few attacks were made. The CVs only moved about 4 hexes, so that means there are some nicely damaged ships in there. It's all on again tonight and more subs are on the way. Fingers crossed.

Jocke landed more at Cotabato and I had one last Jill group able to fly. The Georges got 6 through but they hit nothing.

The KB begins to take replacements, but there really aren't enough to go around. It'll be a few days before these groups can fly again.

NORTH PACIFIC: All ships are gone up here after apparently reinforcing Dutch. I'm having a look at Kodiak tomorrow as it looks like the fighters have moved out there. Hmmmmmm.

S DEI: Still the slow trickle of units flying back to the rear areas. Now some xAKL TFs are getting involved picking up and moving construction and base forces out and around to the Indochina and PI areas, plus a few spots on Borneo.

Jocke is reconning all of the bases down here every day, so either he's pre-occupied or he doesn't care to make a move on these anymore.

BURMA: I keep bombarding at Toungoo and he keeps on moving out. In a few turns I'll simply go into strat while the arty keeps shooting and then vanish. I'd like his first units to cross into the other hex first though. Tricky timing.

As mentioned above, the retreat is on in Burma. This is as good a time as any. This stand has lasted much longer than I thought it could and now I need to get out of dodge before the Allied fleet moves and cuts everything off. A rear guard will be left around Moulmein and then around Raheng and Uttaradit. I'll detail more of this soon. The rear guard will be made of the troops at 55, 51 and they will stay until the Toungoo troops rail back, moving back one hex simultaneously. This should give the needed time to move through Pegu before the Allies, but it'll be a close call.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SUBS: A few hits on Pargo near Manila. There are 4-5 subs in the area, but I'm going to risk moving Hiyo out and to the HI with escort from the entire KB to the top of Luzon. It'll move 4 hexes a day, so it should be out of the main danger zone fairly quickly.

S/SW PAC: Jocke lands on Jolo. He looks to be unprepped as the landing takes massive casualties. I wish I had a bit more here. Only 2/3 of a regiment is on station as the transport was torpedoed a few weeks ago en route, and he rest is at Iloilo. I made the perhaps poor decision to not fly anything in today, but if there is no massive capitulation and if the Allied CVs move off a few hexes, tomorrow I'll send every transport in range to fly in troops. I don't think he'll be able to attack on day one, but if he notices no new units he may try on day two, and if he finds another 100+AV there it could go badly for the attackers. The forts are only at 3 but the terrain is good, so hopefully it'll take a few tries giving me time to add on. A lot of AV being moved out of S DEI is available and in range.

Tanks from Cotabato slammed into some stragglers one hex out of Cagayan. No big deal. A few construction units shattered. This'll make it easier to fly them out and they're now in the shelter of the base. Cagayan has almost 600 AV behind 4 forts in +2 terrain. Another 200 AV is 4-5 days out moving from Surigao. This will not fall as easily and give me time to get fragments and eventually whole units moved. Already three transports are working the routes from Luzon.

Air groups at Davao were given a respite and even the Emily group repaired a plane to be able to fly out. Hopefully he thinks he's destroyed my transport ability seeing all of these 'damaged' reports. It was actually 5 times the number of planes in base! These repairs are huge as all groups are saved and don't have to be disbanded. All troops from Dadjangas will head here and consolidate forces behind the level 4 forts and good terrain.

NORTH PACIFIC: All Kuriles bases are nearing 5-6 forts. The inner bases are stronger, with 200+ AV and 6 forts. I have two reserve divisions up here. Something is starting to make me nervous about this area. I don't like losing contact with a big sigint blip that was moving in Centpac. I'll send out some ships to the dead search zone and open up some of my long range Emily and G3M3 groups.

NW DEI: A regiment has moved out from Medan and a division will be next. With this Jolo landing these may have to be sent to Borneo at Kudat and Jesselton. That corner is key and if he gets Jolo it'll be in easy LBA/LST range. I'll begin stationing some surface elements near here and fighters have moved to Miri already. About 8-10 TFs are moving to and from the S DEI taking troops back and around up here. Timor will remain a roadblock/sacrificial rearguard.

S DEI: Still moving stuff. Still no movement from Darwin, but the troops that left have not returned to the base either. Hmmmm.

BURMA: So far so good. I have to begin getting some units out of Toungoo now as I don't trust the railing for all of them. A few arty will go first. I'll move all AA from Rabaul soon to Pegu and then to the clear hex between Pegu and Toungoo to protect some of these troops moving. Hopefully this will distract bombing while the actual rail of divisions happens.

CENTRAL PACFIC: Still trying to suppress Tinian. No new sightings or sigint of whatever was moving in Central Pacific. I'll bump up search in all areas including the Aleutians/Kuriles in case something is heading that way.

As fast as I am making Peggy (T) and Graces they are going into groups, so the recent battles did not come without a price. It'll be a month before everything is ready to get serious again. In the meantime I've filled out even some groups on the KB with Kates. For DBs the D4Y3 numbers are okay for the KB, but some LBA will have to dip into the D3Y1 pools for a month or so. I have almost 300 of those sitting around.

The KB will be ready to roll at full strength in 2-3 days. It'll only take 2 weeks to upgrade all TBs to the Grace and some more DB to the D4Y4.

Your HI is a bit lower than I target for end of '44. You look like you will come in at about 3M HI to start '45. I try to target +4M. So, it will be VERY interesting to watch this play out.

I'm most surprised that your NSY is still so high. What have you got building yet?My thoughts at this point are anything I build will rapidly convert to VP's for my opponent. I've only a few more months left before even the inland sea will be shutdown.

It is good news that you are going to get several more weeks, maybe months of oil from the DEI. That is really a huge.

Other than the NSY, I think you are doing a great job here. Everything looks pretty good. Keep your ARM and VEH factories running wide open from now on. The ARM/VEH points like HI can't be bombed, but the factories can and you don't want to run short for your LCU's coming in '45. I also run selective engines wide open as well ... fighter engines that I know I can't have too many of. Again, factories can be bombed, but not engines themselves.

Yep. My goal was 3M so I guess I'm on that and I'll have to see if it's going to be sufficient. I hope to continue to produce some HI into 45.

The Naval spending is just on subs and patrol boats, plus the DDs. Unlike many players I do feel subs are still usefull and can play a part in the defense. They're shut off after about 4/45 so as I go the HI should improve for the length of time I still have oil. If I continue to have oil for a few months, I could get to 45 with 100 days of production left in the HI in Japan. That should allow a little extra leeway, I hope. I've begun planning fueling stations with Aden class xAK that have full bunkers. All ships outside the HI will be left on don't refuel until they absolutely need to.

As the perimeter contracts, over the next few months supply shipments will be minimal and hopefully I can store some for necessary factory changes in the future. I'm siphoning a bit off islands in the Solomons still and those in the Gilberts and Marshalls. His scarcity of subs is telling as there seem only to be enough for fleet scouts now and none to work the supply lines.

SUBS: Still no luck at all with any cripples. I have about 6-7 subs in the lanes where I know they're moving, and no contacts.

PI: Troops on Mindanao have stopped moving. Looks like he may want to consolidate for a minute there, or else he's just loading up and moving on. I wouldn't put it past him. Jocke is into speed right now.

I did get more attacks at night, but none with any hits. The Frances heading out from Balikpapan made a nice attack on the Allied CVs, getting 6 planes in to drop TT, but no luck. This has to be giving him a few jitters at east, or it should, because it's getting lighter every day and more planes seem to be attacking the longer I keep them on.

In the most important news of the day his troops did attack at Jolo, but they did not take the base. They did lower forts to level 2 and disabled about half of my regiment there. I'm going to gamble and fly more in with three different groups of transports and LR CAP the base with 80 fighters to see if we can't move something in here and save the place for a while. A stall on this base would be huge and allow other bases on Borneo to get something into place. I have a regiment moving to Jesselton now. The trouble is the Allied fleet needs to move. I'm sure it will soon as there are still some damaged ships in there. I saw the Cowpens smoking during the night attacks.

NORTH PACIFIC: The recon of Kodiak shows a few CVE there with some small invasion shipping and a SAG. Small stuff.

S DEI: It's all going so slowly here. I'm still pushing out and gradually getting the units form all bases toward Kendari and Macassar. From there some will ship out and some will be flown to Borneo.

BURMA: more bombardments at both blocking hexes. The Allies should be about a week from their destination hex through the jungle. I tried to put some units in strat mode today, and it's good thing I did that. I had forgotten that you can rail units into a contested base but not out of one. I'l have to rethink my retreat plans now. I really don't want to put five divisions and 10 arty units in a clear hex so I might start moving back once he leaves the hex and go through the jungle myself toward Chang Mai. Unless of course all of the Allied units leave Toungoo. Then I might be able to rail out again.

I did hear some sinking going on, and Bunker Hill and CVL Princeton showed up on the sunk list. I don't think the Bunker Hill sank but a CVL might have.

It's interesting how different the game is than the war was in respect to losses vs objectives. Jocke seems unfazed with the losses sustained for the foothold on Mindanao, and this fits his version of what is acceptable. The CV, CVL and CVE losses he took there would have been the most devastating defeat of WW2 for the US fleet had it occurred in reality and likely would have been questioned thoroughly as to if it was a necessary mission, what mistakes were made to let this happen, and who was at fault. I'm sure some admirals would have lost their positions regardless of the outcome of the investigations.

In game, it's business as usual. More is on the way.

Yep, and there isn't any way to incorporate all of those political realities that the real leaders (admirals et al) had to deal with into a game ... at least I have never seen it done. So, stripped of those political limitations, you play and you can see first off how well the real guys did and then the fact that the allies really have crushing odds ...

That's it. The real guys just wiped the floor and barely got the mop dirty. There were so few losses compared to what we see here. Of course the IJ has av gas in this game too, and lots more good planes and pilots.

Yep ... avgas quality though is factored into the performance of the planes. But yes, qty is not an issue ... although until late war that was also true ... they had avgas, just not the same specs that the allies had ... germans had similar issues as well.

Interesting. Is that why several planes that should be decent perform so badly?

The Tony was not too bad when it flew, but it just had trouble staying in good repair. I don't find in game it's so good. The Frank was apparently a bit faster than it's listed in game as well.

The biggest underperformer though must be the Ki-100. It was supposed to be the best of the late war planes that saw action. I know it was more reliable, but it was good in the air as well and could hold it's own with anything, Allied or Japanese.

It would be great if this could be modeled differently so that the planes can fly better, but revert to poor performance when supply is low.

Off to bed. One note on the turn just run though. Jolo held another day!

The forts were knocked down again to level 1, but the troops flown in held the place. I might be able to get even more in tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

It is interesting that you brought this up obvert. As a matter of fact I have been thinking about this often in my game as it has gone from 44 to 45. In my game the PI have also been invaded and at one point my opponent while landing in Mindanao also landed 3 divisions or so on Luzon where I have been reinforcing in prep. He was extended there with minimal air cover and I was able to surround him and destroy all the forces there. This happened in late 44. I was happy but the thought crossed my mind, what if this really happened during the war, three US divisions destroyed or surrendered in 44? That would have been a major defeat, but in the game there is no model for how this would affect morale, nor is there a model for "war weariness". In fact, in the last turn He launched a massive aerial assault on Manila which cost him 400 planes to my 120, in those losses were something like 180 B24J, 100 B29 and 70 p47d25. Had this happened in 45 in the real war it would be devastating to the war effort but in this game there is no real consequence, it may set him back a month or two at best but for the most part he can just shrug off the losses and chug forward. It would be interesting to have a mod where losses like these hurt global morale or production.

Yeah, Frank with good gas would do in the 420 range easy ... and it did IRL when they were able to keep the H2O/Methane injection working ... "when" is the operative word here. So the database spins down the performance of these planes to match the avgas/maintenance capability that was there to better approximate ON AVERAGE what the planes performance was.

IJ struggled mightily with twin-charging design/production and H2O/Meth injection maintenance. In performance it meant their engines were producing 20 - 40% lower than they were capable. In a nutshell, for this era, combat aviation is driven by power. More power = faster, more climb, more weapons, more range, more armor, more ...

Think of it this way, the TBolt was powered by a 4 row radial twin-charged that in war boost would get to ~2800 hp (maybe a scooch more, manufacturers never cite war boost ratings, you have to do your own extrapolations). At the same time the IJ was struggling to get 2 row radials with 2 stage/multi speed superchargers(Ha-45 etc) + Water/Meth injection that would kick out ~2200hp with everything working. 25% more power is a BIG deal. TBolt was a monster, the plane was a decent design, but the real success was the engine ... it enabled everything about the TBolt: size, weapons, range, armor ...

Sounds like you're doing very well! As I mentioned, if you have the time you should post some updates and maps of what's happening.

I agree, your two instances there would have caused an uproar. Especially the divisions being lost. Although it was always a hard slog, and took months in some locations to work through all of the dug in fanatical defenders, the Allied troops never really had a set-back in the later war, and certainly nothing like that.

While we're talking about the Allies, I know it could go both ways, but the Japanese during the war were so good at covering up bad operations, like Midway, that they didn't effect moral and public sentiment as much. I think the loss of Saipan was one of the first where the public got an inkling that things were not progressing well at all if I remember correctly.

The only thing like that was really in the beginning when the PI was run over and the entire US and PI force had to surrender. At that time though the US public was still hell bent on getting back at Japan for PH, and there was an understanding that they were just beginning to ramp up strength. In 44-45, no way. Those defeats would have had major implications.

Even though this game is an abstraction, where I play the Allied side I'd like to take on the game with the idea that there is a public, there is a press, there are opposing parties and politicians. That it's not being fought simply as a numbers game. That would be more fun for me, knowing that I wasn't just winning because I had the better stuff and numbers, but also that I was playing with the same care for one's own that infused strategical planning (most of the time) in the Allied forces.

I had contemplated moving it to Miri, but if I can hold Jolo and surrounding islands for another while, then other less valuable troops can move in there. I'd like two divisions in Saigon/Cam Ran Bay as well as some defenses building around the inner part of Indochina where I only have a few construction units now.

S/SW PAC: Jocke is still hitting Rabaul daily with 2E bombing. About 60-70 PV-1 and B-25 seem dedicated to this area. Keep it coming! The one thing I haven't been able to move at all from Rabaul are the AA units, and there is still 16k+ supply, so he's taking good damage from flak here. While I can't really contest his long open flanks as I would like to do, these kinds of areas still occupied by Japanese troops and seen as a danger do draw enough attention to siphon air groups and units out of other frontline ops. Suits me.

NORTH PACIFIC: Bombing of Dutch Harbor commenced again with no opposition.

S DEI: Troop numbers in Darwin have gone up again. Was he railing them to Katherine? Or does my recon just suck? All transport stopped for a day as I sent everything into Jolo. Now a few will finish off sending those units on to that and other islands nearby as well as the Tarakan area and Sandakan. Units are split everywhere right now, but it can't be helped. Even a few fragments keeps him from wanting to paradrop or land troops unprepped.

BURMA: Tried a one arty unit bombardment which worked well at Toungoo. I'll keep that up, rotating the groups so it looks like I'm still invested and pull all back.

CENTRAL PACFIC: Well, I found the big blip that had been moving across Central Pacific. It is a group of CVs and other stuff, and it's now a few hexes from Truk! Helldivers nailed a small TF carrying a calvalry unit. That has now been bought back, so it still got back in effect, just at a higher cost.

I put some Emilys on night TT attack and added one group of Jacks to Truk to bring fighters there to 110. He does like attacking bases with CV air, so the shipping at Truk, just a few xAK, should be safe and continue on to the Marianas.

The CVE TF that had been shepherding the cripples to the HI repair yards made it back to Manila. I'll leave it there to 'show' for Jocke's recon while the KB will be elsewhere, still not able to attack, however, as groups replenish. The CVEs will shed their TB groups and pick up fighter groups instead. I'll have about 100 extra fighters for CAP and escort from these guys, and once the Grace has sufficient numbers I'll use two DB groups with that plane, so another 60 strike planes as well.

Thanks obvert, I am thinking about writing some of it up. The thing is that I am not doing as well as it may appear. Sure, I have been able to score some pretty stunning tactical victories (particularly in the air) even in the late game. However, over all I feel like I am constantly on the threshold of disaster. Strategically I am screwed really. It is the end of Jan 45 and I am still ahead in points and I am still ahead in aircraft losses (allies have lost 2000 more aircraft than Japan at this point which I feel is an achievement). Even so, it is clear that I am losing, I would be surprised if I make it all the way to 46 but I will try as hard as I can.

Also, what is the deal with the kaiten? Does it also not work as in how the Ohka doesn't work in the game? I have most of my remaining subs upgraded with the kaiten and some of those subs launched torps at allied ships but not the kaiten, is there a trick or is it just busted?

The Ohka work just fine, the problem with them is that in the last update the production was accidently overlooked so none are setup to produce. If you edit the production, they work just fine.

I've never tested the kaiten, so not sure .... sorry.

Yeah, no idea. I was hoping it worked, but I have another few months before getting it.

About your game, you're not supposed to be winning! But staying alive, giving out as good as you get into 45 IS winning n the japanese side. If you're ahead in points and the air losses you're doing most likely doing exceedingly well!

The Kaiten has a short range. I presume they will launch sometimes, the distance to target must be in the calculation even though it's not displayed.

Good to know. I'll be interested to see if any sub weapon can get hold of anything major in the late war. Recently I've come up against stiff resistance and a multitude of ASW Tfs working important area.

24 - 25 August 1944
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SUBS: Our subs are getting to the right spots but can't make a significant attack on anything important. The escorts are too vigilant. We lose the I-46 and do hit one LCI near Mindanao. Also bagged an AM.

S/SW PAC: Jolo holds! We sent two garrison units from Macassar and Kendari, and got just about even with the Allied AV at least. His DA came up short and caused some good disruption and casualties. This will give us a few days to load it up with more and send some to the nearby islands as well.

Our night attacks are finding all of the right targets, going for 2 CV, a CVL, two CVE and some APA during these two turns. Just can't get a lucky hit. I lose a few to flak each day, but this is better than losing 100 during the day and I just can't risk the right now as pools and pilot build up to the next Allied push.

I sent sweepers to Cotabato to see what his defenses are like and to keep any LR CAP over Jolo in the area. All of his planes were at 15k so our Georges and Tojo didn't do too badly. Actually the Georges did very well and the Tojos failed a bit. The totals are about 1:2 on the day again eh Allied best of P-47s, Corsairs and Spit VIII. I'll take that. Then the next day I forgot to turn them off, and the results were a bit worse. Did learn though that he changed up the CAP to have some P-47s at 35k, so that's useful for the next wave. I'll be sweeping a bit here soon. Franks and Tonys will try next supported by a bunch of Georges and Jacks.

S DEI: Troops are starting to appear in Darwin again. It's now up to 100k+. So he must have been hiding them to draw my forces during his recent push to Mindanao. Or there is another mystery I've not caught onto, but I think that's most likely. He's read both AARs for the Q-Ball/GJ match where similar things were happening.

BURMA: Retreat is going well. I'm considering a retreat into the jungle toward Chang Mai, just bypassing the Moulmein direction for the troops at Toungoo. I'd still have plenty to hold off the Allies at Moulmein in good terrain.

CENTRAL PACFIC: Another group of TFs passes Truk, this time CVEs and some other transports, and again Jocke must have forgotten to turn down his naval attack settings. We bag about 25 SBD that go for transports at Truk. Emily and Jake night strikes found the CVEs here but couldn't get any hits.

The hold at Jolo is satisfying, but now the gains must be solidified by adding troops into surrounding bases. The flying boats have been important, but this is mostly the Helen and the Tabbys in their big groups taking these big missions on. Regimental sized units are being moved in a few days.

UPGRADES TO TOE
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Ok. Maybe I've misunderstood something here. In our game, unfortunately I accidentally had clicked the 'auto-upgrade obsolete devices' button in the game settings at the start. This should mean that all units upgrade when they can, I guess, right? Jocke complained about it early, and I felt bad, because it meant his units would upgrade without his wanting them to do so. Anyway, I've thought all units that would be in the right conditions would optimize both their devices to the latest upgrades and their TOE to any new changes, like radar or extra guns, etc.

How do TOE upgrades work? I've got quite a few units that can upgrade their TOE and have not yet done this. These include units right in the heart of the HI surrounded by HQs and abundant supply. What can I do to make these upgrades work?

I had thought it was just having 20k supply in the base. Is that not correct? Is an HQ needed?

Here are a few quick examples. As you might notice at the bottom, there is 21k+ supply at Yokohama, and of course several HQs are in range, but these units have not upgraded.

Thanks Captain Cruft for pointed some of this out to me. It is obviously a BIG difference that I'd like to get working.

You need to put the unit into Rest/Training mode and it will upgrade on the next turn if possible with a message logged in the ops report. The conditions relating to command HQ and supply are in the manual somewhere.

I didn't think these things happened automatically. If you have enough armaments points and supply there is a big boost to your land OOB to be had here.

The key types of unit it applies to are anything related to av support or naval support. In addition there are some of the Air Defence units which can do it plus all the Chinese units which have Brigade in the title.

Aahhhhh. Rest mode. Ok. I'll get the rest from the manual and start with my next turn. I have plenty of armaments. I did find the IJA/Chinese units that double in size, which will be helpful for garrisons and getting better troops into the field.
