3 - 4 December 1944 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SUBS: Jocke's subs take more of a toll, hitting a Tonan oiler (only the second lost in the war) and sinking her. He also hits an xAK. Jocke seems to be testing my mine defenses with subs. He gets one nailed at Saigon, but gets away easy at Bataan. I have more mines on the way here. Mines will be allocated to big bases and possible targets in the next few weeks. I should get a few subs this way too. CHINA/INDOCHINA: Massive air strikes by B-29s crush the base at Saigon. He does lose about 10-12 on the day, and since he's using his best strategic weapon in a tactical role I can't really complain. I'd rather lose 60 planes on the ground than 60 factory points in the HI. This curtails some bombing activity agains the armor rolling across the Thai plains, but a lot is still hit by the DBs coming from Bangkok. THAILAND: Big sweeps hit both Nakhon and Auyuthia, and we got some good results in defense. A ton of P-47s lost on the day, and he only gets about 2:1 in sweeps which is really great of the Japanese against here beasts. Nice to see they are vulnerable. I think I've figured some things out. Took a few years, but the layering and placement of CAP has been much better in the past few months, and I think his fighter pools 'should' be showing that. All of the best Allied fighters had significant losses today, and mostly over our territory. The Japanese lose few pilots. Allied troops are showing an inclination to cross and take Ayuthia. I've moved in a big Japanese army, so we'll see if he keeps going. Tanks take Nakhon after the final air strikes completely wipe out the ground forces here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR December 3, 44 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TF 475 encounters mine field at Saigon (60,71) Allied Ships SS Harder, Mine hits 1, on fire -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub attack near Kiungshan at 70,60 Japanese Ships xAK Iwashiro Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage xAK Kisogawa Maru PB Shoei Maru Allied Ships SS Tinosa SS Tinosa launches 4 torpedoes at xAK Iwashiro Maru PB Shoei Maru attacking submerged sub ....
