... have you been cooking with gas again?

Don't mind him, dude, Comrade Red Mouse is just 'huffing'. It *does* involve a gas and cooking, but it's paint fumes and he's cooking his brain is all.

And "Comrade Red Mouse's" toaster doesn't make passes at him.

No, but the espresso machine said something in Italian the other morning which could have been either good or bad.

My toaster was made in China, so I use sign-language and it replies with smoke-signals.

Feared what? Dumbasses? Yes. I feared dumbasses for many of those years you've indicated. Still do.

So you got nothing to on a weekend day and go grocery shopping, and when you check out, the lovely checkout person says "and how are you, today?"

So you say "Dobroe vecherom, makushla. Y, kok t'e pou-jou-va'esh cevodnia?"

Trust me, it works. Brandi thought it was French, but .... that's another thread.

Last night I had a very surprising result in my PBEM.

My game with ChezDaJez is now into February of 1944. A few days ago my search aircraft spotting a TF about 160nm ESE of Mili - a position too far east to be a resupply run to Tarawa or even an invasion of Baker Island. I figured that it could be either another attempt at a carrier raid on HAwaii, an invasion of either Johnson Is or Palmyra Is, or a commerce raid attempt on my convoys headed to the south Pacific. The last option seemed the most likely. All my fleet carriers have been in the battles around the New Hebrides and Solomons, so waht I had in Hawaii was eight CVEs as well as the Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Nevada. I sent both south to cover my transport convoys, with the CVEs ending up down near Canton Is.

In the turn I received yesterday it started out with the three battlewagons running across the Shoho, Ryujo, 2 CLs and 3DDs. In a running battle that lasted through into the day phase (movement phase), the Shoho went under to five 14" shell hits - the old, slow tubs scored a nice victory. I was worried that the Ryujo would launch an attack that morning, but it didn't happen. I still don't know exactly what he's up to - am anxiously awaiting the return of the next turn to see whether he has a lot more forces in the area of whether my CVEs can clean up the remnants of his raid.

Okay... I know that y'all have been waiting with baited breath to learn what happened the next day. First some Marine SBDs from Johnson Island flew in and put two 500lb bombs into a CL and one into Hibiki (oh no!). Then the Ryujo launched 20 Jills along with 10 A6M5s against my CVEs. The FM1 performed miserably, allowing 14 of those Jills through, which put two torpedoes each into three of the CVEs. One is up to 82 flotation damage, I don't think that either of the others are in serious danger of sinking (under 50 flotation). My Avenger pilots put two torpedoes into the Ryujo, sinking her and also one into an escorting destroyer.

It looks like the score stands at 2 CVLs sunk, 1 CL sunk and 2 DDs sunk for possibly one CVE sunk and 2 CVEs heavily damaged and out for months. I'll take that trade...

Now who can make matrix create an AE version for Android? I got me an Asus Transformerpad TF-300T and it is incredibly great. But I need AE on it, so obvert finally sees more tuns coming

Does your magic eight ball have a message that says, "Don't bet against a home dog on Monday night"?

Noo. My magic eight ball only tells me if I should flip a coin or not. Have you always had this difficultly in following a conversation?
