That's great news and I'm sure he'll have some awesome memories of his state championship. Maybe (?) someone else will notice his excellent play? Perhaps a college in the upper midwest that excels in hockey (i.e., NOT UND)?

He has his heart set on West Point.

To be fair, not a state championship, just Champions of the St. Patty's Day Tournament in Philly for his age group.

That doesn't surprise me but can't you talk him into Annapolis!

Was it other players from outside of Philadelphia in the tourney? If so, it's better than a state championship! Then it's a REGIONAL championship!

Back safe and sound early Monday morning with the tournament championship trophy in tow.

Got Alex off to school as he slept all night in the car while I drove all night, then crashed until 1500. Internet was flaky at home all day and evening yesterday and of course I was busy catching up at work all morning. No excuse for my absence from THE THREAD!!!

The kids played their asses off all weekend and Alex had shutouts in both games he played! I couldn't be more proud!

Go Alex!!!

Northern Plains school (UND). And play for the best. He and my buddies kid could be line mates.

Luvverly bits of kit. It's almost strange to think that despite the massive differences in design and tech they were both designed only 10 years apart. By the same man.

I think I've got a short vid of our Lancaster doing a low flypast, only a short distance above out hangar in order to clear some trees along the fenceline.

The Vulcan bomber was actually designed in New Zealand as a fast aerial crop-duster, but was stolen by the Brit's. Hawker Siddeley then added a bomb-bay, and installed some Bristol Olympus engines.

Pfft. You wish. New Zealand's only contribution to the world is not being Australia. If anything you're just a wetter version of Convict's Island but with an even sillier accent.

If you'd had said it was designed as an intercontinental sheep transporter people may have believed you.

Awww... c'mon Dixie... the nation that has brought Tolkein's world into visual glory (not to mention giving us Sir Edmund Hillary, Bruce McLaren and Team Black Magic) deserves a little better treatment than that. So what if they - like all us other former colonies - have dreams of grandeur that can't possibly be reached by anyone other than the mother country?

Team mates will work. I'm not buying him any skater gear after all of the goalie gear we've gone through!

Tell your scouts to make a trip to Raleigh.

It is possible, Dave Hakstol recruits all over the country. Always in the market for a good goalie. Clarke Saunders has one more year left if the NHL doesn't snatch him. He got the shutout Sunday in a 6-0 win in the best of three series. Zane Gothberg is a freshman and needs some improvement.
Tomorrow starts the Red Baron Final Five (games) for the WCHA championship. UND is up against Colorado College. Whoever wins that one plays the Goophers. Can UND make it four banners in a row? Hope so.

And...good morning. Temp...-6F. Same old, same old.
