Ok Early Morning tithe! Much congrats is in order for the dedication , Crackaces. The GNPs I've come in contact with give me more confidence that I'm being cared for correctly than doctors. Thanks very much! I am very pleased that you have has good experiences with NP's Certainly Kleinpell (2008) Nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the intensive care unit: An evidence-based review indicates that ACNP's do no worse than MD Intensvists We do spend time doing health promotion, which on occasion sticks and we change lives. A very real debate for Health Care in the United States is occuring right now and consumers are very very confuised. The AMA and AAFP are hard at work lobbying and shaping the debate to "Nurses diagnosing patients is dangerious!" First, we are advanced practice nurses with graduate level training specializing in a specfic population, not simply RN's. That aside .. in Arizona independent practice has been the case for many years now, and NP's have proven themselves a valuable asset provding health care. However, Florida and Alabama are examples where the scope of practice is much more restricted. So the powers to be want are working very hard to prevent these states from assuming the scope of practice now in Arizona. It is interesting times these days. Facts are not the word of the day ..... I read comments in AARP and NPR as examples and it can be very discouraging. "I want to be treated by a doctor not a nurse!" . That tells me we are losing the public information battle ..
