Morning all, and a very, very snowy morning.
About 4" so far I'm guessing and still coming down. 14"+ southwest of here. More snow is in the forecast this week. Temps no higher than the 30's in the near future. Golf? Maybe sometime in May. This is not good. Crops should be in the ground by now. This is looking bad. Another year with no summer?

Well, it was 61F/16C when I walked out the door this morning, the redbuds, and hackberry's were in full bloom and the wisteria is just about to bloom. Lots of honey bees flying already, going to be a great year for honey.

Expect high temperature around 82F/27C this afternoon.

Not to rub it in, or anything... Come August you will be telling us now nice it is in your part of the country while we are dying in 100F/38C plus temperatures.

Probably not. Back in the day I've poured concrete in 110F. with 90%+ humidity. That is the problem up here, one extreme to the other. 150 degree temperature swings.
When one thinks about it, just stepping out outside in winter can be 120+ degree difference.

The Red Star Tribune had a historical temperature bit on days with 100+ degrees heat index versus 90+ heat index. Phoenix has many more days >90, but we're actually on par with days >100 heat index historically speaking. The summer humidity catches us up in a hurry.

So, Shani's right. It's the temperature swing (in part), but it's also the humidity swing. Who'd a thunk living in a swamp would get all hot and sticky in the summer?

Sounds like another working weekend coming up, because Muggins here is apparently the only person on BBMF who can look after the Hurricane (and hasn't concocted a flimsy excuse or pre-booked leave). D'oh.

I hope things aren't going to go the way they look like going, else I might actually have two kites to take care of. The rumour is that the boss wants to take PZ (resplendant in her SEAC scheme, with the wrong exhausts and no Vokes filter) up for a spin.

Appears to be a couple of bombs near the end of the Boston Marathon finish line. Some casualties.

Another explosion at a Boston library, and two more devices being disarmed by police.

Actually that was at the JFK presidential library over in Dorchester, not one of the Boston libraries.

Just happens that a bomb also goes off there on the same day? Most likely related.

Nobody has proven that it was a bomb at the library. The two at the marathon, yes. A third one detonated by the police. The fire at the library has not been linked to a bomb yet; plenty of other stuff can go bang.

That's true. It could be swamp gas. It was only coincidence that it exploded at the same time. Or an overload in the consumption of "Boston Baked Beans".

It's only a convenient coincidence because it happened at the same time. Besides, isn't today a holiday in Mass.? Was the place even open? If it was a bomb, what would be the point of detonating it in an empty building?

Early reports are always like that - all I've heard/seen is that a bomb exploded at the JFK Library. Nothing about 'fire possibly caused by a bomb' (to paraphrase what I think you are saying). We just have to wait for better info.

Patriot's day is an extremely minor holiday. State employees are the only one's off. The Museum would be open today, as it would on most holidays.

Local coverage. http://www.boston.com/metrodesk/2013/04/15/jfk-library-evacuated-after-explosion-fire-polie-probe-possible-link-marathon-blast/yB8NQAm14nV4KxtA8yvYyI/story.html

True.

Family in the area says that at the latest Boston Police press conference they said there was an electrical fire at the JFK Library, NOT a bomb.
