Proud of my son and his Boy Scout troop. They stood honor guard duty Sunday night to Monday morning at the Murfreesboro Healing Fields this last weekend. Good character building staying up all night to keep a symbol of rememberence safe and secure.

Pretty proud of the boys in my Scout Troop, too. We were out putting flags up at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. One of my younger boys was asked by a news reporter "Why are you here?"

His reply...

"because"

From the mouths of children

Had barbecue spare ribs and a nice Californian Merlot yesterday. Got a bit tipsy and sleepy, which was nice.

Thanks again for everybody's congratulations. Part of me is surprised that I didn't wake up as a pile of decrepit dust this morning, even though my 30s are now officially behind me.

Which "part" of you was surprised, T? Some parts achieve decrepitude faster than others.

Good on you for taking this development with a grain of salt.

Urgh. Man-flu tithe. It would be bad enough on it's own but I had associated ear ache this morning so I've been hitting the painkillers today to get me through work. Comfortably numb would describe how I've been since 0630 this morning Also my road trip to Duxford was cancelled so instead I've been tinkering with the Lanc and PZ today instead. Target for this week is to somehow weasel my way onto a Lancaster flight on Friday.

One thing to keep in mind about getting older. It beats the hell out of the alternative.

A chance would be a fine thing. I'm on keys this week which means opening (and closing) the BBMF hangar, so early starts are the order of the week. Never mind, it'll soon be Saturday I hope.

Boys, we may have to have that chat about maybe having put Dixie down. We're here to help.

Good Morning. Last day of School for my kids, all of 1 minute. Dropped them off at the usual time to get to work my usual early to get things done before the day starts. BTW, my work is 1/2 mile from the school. I am sitting at work, reading overnight reports from 911 dispatch centers on issues to handle for the day and I get a call from my daughter. Bell time at school is 0800. I look at the time on the phone, it is 0801. They just had to report in and get marked present, get their report cards and they could leave. They are walking here now.

Lucky for me, my office is tolerant of two teenagers and they have their electronic devices to keep them busy. Haven't got my son hooked on WITP:AE, yet... All things in due time.

Morning all, and it is indeed a fine day in Central NC. Great weather, the garden is in... and the weeds have yet to start there march to domination.

Welcome to "The Thread" Gabede! Yes, some have used this location to boost their post count. We call them affectionately "spambots".
