I will be in Indianapolis this weekend at the World's Greatest Hobby on Tour Show (No, it is not WITP:AE, sorry guys!), it is a model train show at the State Fairgrounds. So, if you are in the Indy area, come by and see me. I am the 6'3" overweight bald guy at the 100'x60' N scale layout. I will have a red shirt on with my name on it. Of course, this will describe quite a few of us, so just ask for Mike Curtis, they all know who I am.

Good morning, THREAD dudes.

Expected to be in the mid-40s (F) here today. Most unusual for early-mid January in Minnesota!

It's been consistently cooler here than normal, hovering in the low 40s to upper 30s (F) overnight for the past month or so, though the last few days have been a bit warmer. No problem for me, though: I grew up in Kansas City. It didn't snow especially badly there but it got really, really cold!

I don't miss it.

Say chickenboy,

Sounds like there was a hell of a high school hockey game down there last night. Winona vs. Owatonna. Good size brawl for high school play. 10 or 12 ejections. Hope Dave Hakstol does some recruiting down there.

Saw the video on the Strib. It's pretty damn tame. What a bunch of namby-pamby refs! Plus, they should ALL be saving their ire to give it to North Dakota!

Come on up. UND is only suiting 18 players. The Sioux are pretty beat up. But they're still Fighting.

Didn't want to pile on the RIP Des stuff on the main forum. He was much too special for that. His avatar said it all, he was an eclectic, inquisitive, comic. A man for all seasons and all points of view. I wish I could have met him, or even talked to him; but alas.

Knew he was hurting and did (said) what I could, but to precious little effect. Watching a Brother fade and having no help to offer, is one of the hardest things a person can do. And thus it was with Des. And thus another piece of my heart goes into the beyond, pinned to the soul that I gave it to.

Had a requiem Mass said for him. Lied like a rug and told the Archdiocese of Mobile he was Church of England. Lied because, frankly, I don't know what he was. Lied because any sin will be on me, while the Grace will be on Des.

Light a candle for the fellow. Even if you are agnostic, just stick your nose into a church and light a stinking candle. It won't hurt you, and it just might help Des. You never know.

Ciao. John

Love my job, and the week flew by, but I'm really ready for some rest.  Well, there will be a bit of rest in between hockey practices (present location) and game, errands to run, chores to do, etc.
