Strange question...do we have anyone on the forum who's from West Virginia or Pittsburg PA? I might be moving there, and I'm looking for intell. And no, I don't want to buy a (*&&^%$$%^&& trailer!)

I visited southeastern Ohio right on the border of West Virginia. They thought I was from England from my accent.

People think I have an accent...I don't at all..

I know the feeling. Several times while a student in the UK I was asked : "what part of England are you from?". I responded "New England". One young man replied, "Oh, is that near Wales?"

While taking time out at Chico Hot Springs, Montana.

A woman from California asked me where I was from.

I replied Grand Forks.

She looked puzzled.

I said Grand Forks.

Cool!

Cool?

I never met anyone from North Dakota.

I asked: Don't they have an exibit at the zoo in Sacremento?

Ayup. Trying to explain to my middle-of-nowhere Nebraska dairy farm second cousins once upon a time that just because I was from Northern California (near San Francisco) didn't necessarily mean that everyone there was gay.

I can't fault 'em too much. Them boys were crazy fun to hang with for the summer. Crazy drivin' down gravel roads and...get this...indoor bottle rocket fights.

Well Chickenboy. This looks to be our last hurrah on the weather. Then it's to normal temperatures for a few days.

We had one hell of a run though. Didn't we?

Warmest past 68 days since 1850. Where the hell did they come with that number? Grand Forks (Griggs Landing) wasn't founded unit 1876.

Ya know, it's not that I don't love ya Des, and it's not that I wasn't surprised, distraught, and utterly wounded to the heart, at the news of your untimely and falsely reported death, it's just that I hit the Bishop of Mobile pretty hard about getting a requiem Mass for you, and perhaps was a teensy bit disingenuous about how you were a paragon of Episcopal/Catholic virtue.

And now you aren't dead. You aren't even mostly dead. In fact, you sound pretty perky. Only problem I got is what the shoot do I tell the Bishop when you really do die. "Uh, well, your Excellency, I thought he was dead, but he wasn't dead. But nobody knew he wasn't dead until a couple days after he was dead".

So if you are going to die, I would appreciate it if you would wait for 10 or 20 years before you do so. These Bishops have learned about computers and Excel, and have you down as 'deceased/prayed for' in the books, and it will take some time to set you up again for the real send off. So hang in there Pal. I need at least 10 and preferably 15 years of sharp personal interjections, but 20 years would be best.

After that, the Bishop's programs will forget anything we did today. So you can die all you want in about 20 years and I can get the Bishop to do another Requiem Mass, and everything will be cool. And God will see it and just laugh his heart out; and lift you up.

I am so glad you ain't dead, Des.

J

Why thank you Des. Now if I had internet at home.

Two years ago I was Schani. But After I got laid off my sign apparently got laid-off also and couldn't reactivate it when I started at a new firm. but, oh well.

Again thanks.

Now about those indoor bottle rocket fights, Chick.

OK. Crazy 2nd cousins and I drive to South Dakota from Nebraska to get a couple gross of bottle rockets (fireworks). Their parents leave town for a couple days, leaving the kids in charge. Boys proceed to have an indoor bottle rocket fight. You know, just like the warning labels say.

Well, except for outdoor use only, adult supervision, put in ground, light fuse and get away. Otherwise, whilest we were shooting the rockets at one another (you can hold a bottle rocket by the stick thingy and fire it one handed) indoors, we followed the rules exactly.

This just in...getting hit full on in the chest with an exploding bottle rocket will leave your ears ringin'.
