We're at a real crossroads. I have a great job offer in hand from a company in NE Pennsylvania. It's a high pressure: high reward sort of position with a great company.

On the other end of the spectrum is a move to San Antonio to be with my wife's family. We're kind of isolated up here in MN from our families. We miss growing up with our parents, siblings and-for the first time-our new nieces and nephews. My wife would be the only one working if we ventured down that path. Doable, but risky financially.

So-a dream job or family? I'm sure no one else has ever made this decision before. I'm the first in the epic history of mankind, I'm sure. It's just a very, very difficult decision.

It's wonderful that we have a choice. But we've never been in that position before. We've moved around because that's where the jobs were. We don't have to do that anymore. And frankly, it's scary.

ETA: I'm all ears if one of you lot has some sage advice...

San Antonio. I visit that area for my customers on business often.

Duh..don't make this so hard on yourself...and you're just a short drive away from watching your superhero Romo choke in person...

Gearing up for the invasion of Ceylon. The Penguin has about 3 division equivalents there and I'm preparing 7 of my own. Will be quite the fight.

I quit teaching university after four years with nothing on the horizon. I'd been in NC for 6 years and just needed to move on. Moved to NYC, which was supposed to coincide with the GF at the time (we had lived together for two years) moving up with me. I went first, got a job and apt., all set up. Then she bailed!

Fun times!

Happily though, after working my A** off for a few months, got a great interview and eventually the job in London.

So the jump into the Blue can have good results, but the process can be tough. Sounds like a tough negotiation ahead. A list of pros and cons always helps me. Then flip a coin! What the coin says will tell you what you really think! (and what she really feels, which might be most critical)

Hoping MK2 is right side up today.

I'm almost thinking this is a classic case of `Like father; like son'.

Thanks for the well wishes guys, Mk2 was successfully (eventually) turned right way up. Mrs Dixie is staying at her parents' place tonight as it's left her a bit sore but it alles gut other than that. To be honest, I was so much trouble they chopped me out, so clearly (according to everyone else) this is my fault as well.

The off-road stuff was brill. Plunging around steep hills and through some big puddles is fun enough, it's even better in the dark though. I might have taken a few hills quicker than was ideal though.... I also left the other two vehicles in the distance on the roads back home, despite the fog and darkness we were up to top speed and stayed there

I missed your "excitement" but I'm glad everyone is well, Martin!

I can only agree with this. Could you go into active practice, or has too much of what school crammed into your head already leaked out?
