Good Morning, well, with no Anti-Tornado powder (Some call it snow) that didn't fall here this winter, we expect this spring to be quite active...

Geepers, this sound seriously. during their security enhancement protocol, They observed multiple error! I wonder if it affected their CAPS LOCK button? Or their spontaneous switching between verb tense?

It will sound legit. I believed that I am taking immediate action!

What is funny is to mouse over the links and see where they actually go to. The latest one that made it through the university spam blocker was to a .br address. I think that is Brazil

... and finally ENDEX. After logging seven straight 60+ hours weeks I could use some rest.

TGIW. I now have the rest of the week off

Sounds like a great way to get in some sea time and a little income too, Symon. As a landlubber thought-what does "pipe berth" as in "a pipe berth kind of guy" mean?

Basically a hammock stretched over a frame of aluminum pipes. Reeaaal comfy. Racing machines are stripped down for weight, so no beds or soft bunks, or any of that. I've been on a couple where the owner has a setee bunk, but that's about it. Here's the inside of a Nelson Marek offshore racer. This one actually has some pads on top of the canvas.

Danke!

Why not remove them in their entirety in those craft stripped down for weight considerations, Symon? Or are these still kept 'just in case' the craft was used for some overnight trip?

Hey Viking Dude-

My wife is a veterinary radiologist and regularly reads cases from your neck of the woods. The interwebs is a wonderful thing.

Anyways, she's reading a case from some clearly Scandinavian town (it's got all the long vowel sounds and the circle thingy over the letter A too). They use radioopaque markers to indicate the animal's sides on the radiograph marked with "H" on the animal's right side (we would use an "R" here). H? What's that?

H="Höger", Swedish for "Right". Left side would be "Vänster".

Do the Finns, Danes, Icelanders or Norwegians have a similar nomenclature too?

Transpac takes a week and PV is 4-5 days, then schlepping it from Long Beach to SFO or Seattle. Gotta sleep somewhere. After a race, some of the crew sleep on-board so they don't have to pay for hotel rooms. There's also racing rules that mandate certain equipment and accommodations; berths (so ya use pipe berths), a head (portapotty), a stove (2 burner Coleman campstove), a working auxiliary (well it's installed anyway), safety gear (taken very seriously) ... food is sometimes a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter and a knife

As for Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland it is so. No big surprise given our common history. All these languages belong to the Germanic language family. The Finnish words for Left/Right differs quite alot, but then it belongs to a completely different language family (Uralic).

Would the Finns use "S" and "D" for their markers? That's "Dexter" and "Sinister" for right and left, but I think this is a Latin origin convention used in N. Europe, but maybe not for the Finns.

I have no idea if they use that. Otherwise, the Finnish words for left is "vasen" and right is "oikea".
