Hi all,

quote:

ORIGINAL: Dixie

I was up at the (not quite so) local hospital a few days back. I've had an issue for a while where I lose the circulation and feeling in three fingers on my right hand and my little finger suffers from pins and needles. Initially I was diagnosed with Reynaud's phenomenon, later 'upgraded' to a full on syndrome and then back to phenomenom, and sent off for some x-rays and nerve conduction tests.

The upshot of that was that I've 'failed' the tests on three counts, the first thing I was told (on Wednesday afternoon) was that I was showing some signs of arthritic type development on the r/h side of two vertebrae in my neck. At the hospital on Thursday I was told that in addition to that, the nerve conduction tests flagged up some potential issues. But best of all, the x-rays showed I had a cervical rib, i.e. a free rib at the top of my ribcage/neck. Any one of those three things could be causing my symptoms or it could be none.

Coming soon(ish), more tests with an MRI and MRA scan in my future. And maybe some surgery. But no Falklands! I'm also imagining/experiencing occasional pain in my shoulder area after being told of my bonus rib.

Best wishes Martin - fingers crossed!

Finger crossed? Is this some sort of sick joke about my condition?

Back from vacation. I can report it's 104F at Lake Powell, the fishing is good, water in the upper half is murky but the lower half is crystal clear, I can still water ski, and the lake was going up a foot (yes, 12 inches) a day, which broke the houseboat loose 2 times in seven days. I can also report the river conditions are most optimal for river rafting in the high Colorado Rockies.

Work must have missed me, there were 1200 plus emails in my box this morning.

Four more hours of this, and then I plan on going home and either 1) have a nervous breakdown, or 2) collapse in bed without letting the dog out (I hate this option, btw), or 3) all of the above.

BTW, have you, possibly, tried the electro stimulation (i.e. TENS)?

I've not tried that yet, I should've used Mrs Dixie's one when she was pregnant! Now that I've had the test results back I'm wondering how many of the other little aches and pains I've had could be linked to my bonus rib. Or dodgy nerves. Or dodgy vertebrae.

Off to the airport. I'll try to post some vacation pics next week.

Laters.

Laters, Viking dude. Have a great trip!

Majorca? Isn't that where you've been with your family several times in the last few years?

Thanks

We were here last year as well. The year before that on the Canary Islands and the ten years before that on Cyprus.

Good memory there!

A nice view from Mallorca. A little hard getting up this view. 220 meters climb on 2200 meters horizontal. 1:10 in 30C degrees heat. Just a little sweaty when I got up.

I'll try to torture you guys with some pic of myself later. Will not be this time however, as 1/ I'm not very picturesque and 2/ WiFi is hellishly slow.

Laters guys. Be well.

In other news, the Penguin and I played SEVEN turns today. It's hard to be CINCPAC.
